One and a Half Decades of IC

Of late it seems that there is a lot of commentary on those who can make it through this
kind of treatment successfully. It has come to my attention that certain people are suggesting that only people who are a little unwell can achieve good results with this treatment.

I have endeavored to post in a subtle manner previously, but, this post will be a bit less so.
There are other websites that would like to steer you away from ICAMA and me,
Dr. Brizman, and have gone to great lengths to keep others from knowing about my
treatment.

In the past, and again recently, it has come to my attention that there is a person or
persons who are saying things that are untrue about me, and about the work that I do,

IC Angels

I want to say thank you to those special IC angels who have taken time out from their personal lives to give back and help others that are new and in need of extra comfort.

It takes a lot to be able to do that. And, I certainly have no expectation from anyone to do that. But, to those of you who stepped forward and did so, I wanted to give a special thank you.

It helps others to have a hand to take when in pain-emotional and physical. I am here as
much as I can be for all of you. But, those extra little angels out there with big hearts who
take an extra moment to email, and share a thought or a feeling, or pick up the phone,
or just give some kind of list or understanding makes this world what it should be--people helping people!

If You Have Found ICAMA

...you have landed on a website rich with support and information on alternatives or
adjunctive treatments to the standard methods of treatment that exist today.

If you are looking for those kinds of options, this means
that you feel that those standard treatments have not worked for you or that you are
looking for something to work in place of or in conjunction with your present treatment
choice.

I think the most significant difference between this site and other sites is that we offer
a lot of hope-stories written by people who have made it through the darkest hours of
IC and now have their life back. And, our chat site offers a place to vent and share
and reach your hands out for someone else to hold.

Mother's Day and IC

For those of you who have worked with me or read my dissertation, you know that one aspect, one of many that sometimes may pertain to an underlying issue of IC is the bonding relationship between mother and child--or lack there of.

This relationship is fundamental to our self esteem, the development of who we are, and the well being of our health. If this relationship is not a nurturing one, then changes may sometimes occur in a young child's emotional and intellectual development that may in turn cause physiological changes.

These physiological changes can create a cascade of events that ultimately lead to IC.

May Feature Story

One afternoon in 1998 I thought I had a bladder infection.  I was very uncomfortable and
thought I just needed to drink some cranberry juice and get some medicine.  My regular
GP told me there was no infection and I should go to a gynecologist.  My gyne did an
ultrasound and told me nothing was wrong and I should go to a urologist.  The urologist
had me come back 3 times sticking a catheter in me each time and adding potassium, or
other liquids in my bladder to see my level of irritation and then seeing how my bladder
was evacuating.  At my third appointment the doctor said, "well I don't really know

Taking Herbs/Supplements Without Supervision

...is not a good idea. There is not a "miracle bottle" that can be bought to magically make your IC go away! And, taking supplements and herbs without supervision is very dangerous.

Many people say, "if it is natural, it may help, but it wont hurt". This is not true. This is why you need to be supervised by a licensed, trained, professional!

Treating people with natural medicine is very difficult, and treating IC, well, I dont think there are too many things more difficult than that--and that is when you know what you are doing.
