Sound Familiar?

I know I have said all of this repeatedly to each of you, but it is nice to have it organized in such a concise manner such as it is in the following article. I really like all the points made regarding the vast number of bacteria in the intestines and how they function to contribute to the 70% functioning of our immune systems. They have an effect on our metabolism, and of course, inflammatory diseases as well. Please read this article, it is really a good one!

So Many Sweets, So Little Time

This is a favorite subject of everyone it seems. I doubt that most of us escape the obsession we seem to develop early on in childhood for "treats".

But, as all of you know all too well, abstinence from anything sweet is an essential for long periods of time while trying to get the body in good healthy balance.

As one's symptoms improve, there is a point that naturally sweetened goodies may be re-incorporated into the diet. And, during diet, if you are going to cheat, which, I dont recommend, but human nature being what it is often, I hope that you will choose a healthy treat that is sweetened with fruit or agave. These seem to be the healthiest and easiest on the body and the very least disruptive to the healthy balance as a whole.

Post from an Old Patient

As everyone knows, I dont go into the chat forum as to leave a place that is "sacred" for people to be able to speak freely-even if they want to talk about me! So, I don't go in. Yesterday, an old patient saw a question and wanted to give an answer and was having problems logging in. So, she asked me to post her answer.

The question was about turkey. This is what she said:):

Article On The Gastrointestinal Tract and Yeast Overgrowth

This article was shared by those of you on the chat section, and it is a nice article that I am sure others may want to enjoy as well. There are also similar articles in the archives of this site if anyone wants to do a search on the to right of this page and read more good stuff as well! Enjoy:)

Story from an IC Patient with the Swine Flu

You can’t get very far these days without hearing the hype, or hysteria about swine flu. Even Dr. Mehmet Oz covered the topic in his inaugural Dr. Oz talk show program this week. The probability of a ‘worldwide pandemic’ is enough to scare even the bravest people—and you can count me among that group. I even wrote last week on the icama.org forum asking for opinions about the swine flu vaccine.

I was worried. Afterall, I’m now 7 weeks pregnant, and was afraid to be among the ‘high risk’ group (pregnant women) that face contracting the virus.

New Sexual Partner and IC

As many of you know, sometimes a person's sexual partner is inter-related with their IC. This is true for a male's sexual partner, but more often than not, in the woman's.

Sperm can contain many microorganisms that can be communicated into the female very easily through sexual activity. This is different than the classical STD. The sperm is a reflection of the balance or imbalance in the male at a given space in time. Depending on the health of the female, her immune system will either be strong enough to kick out any offending microorganisms-or not. This depends on her relative balance as well as the relative intensity of the microorganisms involved.

Request from Patients On Chat

If you all would like to share articles together, which is great, please send them to me so that I can post and comment on them. I think this might offer more insight for everyone to share together and keep things a be a bit more on target.

I do not go into the cat site, so you all can discuss anything you would like. This is why I created this site in this way. But, I do want the content and the discussions to be as useful as possible. And, also many people coming to visit the site, might not go onto the chat, and there may be things you are discussing there that someone else may miss.

So, please share! I will post.

This month's Support Group Meeting Clarification

The meetings that I hold each month are for me to talk and discuss with patients issues that come up in treatment and any questions that I can help with. I canceled this month's meeting bc I have some obligations I need to tend to. A group of patients have decided to have a chat amongst themselves in place of this meeting, which, is fantastic. But, I rec'd a few questions addressed to me as if the meeting that is going to take place is the ICAMA meeting, and I just wanted to be clear that that isnt what this is for this month so noone is confused and expecting something else.

Next Support Group Meeting

Please accept my apologies. I need to cancel this month's meeting. I have had other obligations that I have had to address personally this month and I cant seem to make this month's meeting work.

I am really sorry, I think each of you know how important all of you are to me and these meetings are as wonderful for me as they are you.

This cannot be helped this month. I will pick up where we left off on the first SAturday of next month.

Who Said That?

Read this article! I have said this so many times. Even when my own mother was dying of cancer and other people close to her kept telling her to enjoy her sweets and alcohol she didnt listen! Which, was horrifically upsetting. Now researchers are finding that it is true!

Reading this may help you understand why I say some of the things I do, as in the sugar has to go!
