Anxiety and IC

Response to a Post

IC is definitely a frustrating condition. Horrifying to have and ridiculously difficult to treat. I understand your struggle-and everyone's struggle. This is why from time to time I attempt to clarify how hard this condition is in all aspects.

No one has a crystal ball. This is why I often asks patients whom have gone before to chime in from time to time or write about their experiences-this is not always easy and people often do not feel comfortable doing this. But, when they do, it is greatly appreciated.

By the time you have IC, it has been brewing for long before. Imbalances in the body take a very long time to manifest into disease. This is why the journey toward restoring healthy balance is so time consuming.

Re-establishing Balance in the Body

is a very different process depending on your constitution and the manner in which your body became imbalanced, and how those two factors coming together are manifesting disease.

Even for someone who is skilled in the art of practicing alternative medicine, assisting a person in the process of regaining their well-being is often a long and arduous process. It is difficult to understand how time consuming and difficult this can be for the person going through it.

IC and Autism

In my opinion have a lot in common. Doctors on the cutting edge of doing tremendous work with Autism treat-guess what? Yes! The GUT! When working on an autistic child's gastrointestinal tract, the autism improves.

This is really amazing work and what could be more important than saving a child's quality of life?

On Tap

I understandably receive an ongoing number of questions regarding my recommendation to drink bottled spring water. This typically is in regards to the cost. And, i am not a water expert, only an expert on IC.

The difference between Tap or filtered tap in outrageously obvious clinically. There are so many issues that revolve around water and many still far beyond my own understanding. Much more research needs to be conducted in this area.

This article interestingly illustrates even more issues than the ones i bring up. Please read it!

October Patient Story

In September 2006 I was 18 and beginning my first year in college. Only a few weeks into school I suddenly began to feel as if I had a bladder infection. Up until then I had never had a bladder infection but the symptoms were pretty unmistakable. I had urgency and frequency and the worst was the pressure that felt as if it was centered in my urethra. I went to the doctor expecting a simple solution, but I was told that I actually didn’t have a bladder infection. I was put on antibiotics which did not help. I was then put on a three month waiting list to see a specialist and in the meantime I was told that there was nothing that I could do for my discomfort. This was the most difficult time for me.

70% of your immune system is in your Gut

so it is no surprise so many disease stem from an imbalance in that part of your body. I know it seems I post redundant information, but "repetition is the mother of learning" so they say.

This is a really nice article sent in by an active patient, please read it:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/is-your-digestive-system_b_313247.html

Weddings and Babies

There have been a lot a lot of weddings and babies this year in the ICAMA community. Lots of wonderful things happening to many of you that have gone through treatment. And, it makes me so happy to see that happen.

Dreams coming true, lives returning to happiness. I just posted one new story on the kid's page today. You can catch it there if you like.

I will update it with a picture-just couldn't get it on just yet, but he is so adorable! If you are/have been an IC patient of mine and would like to post a story about something wonderful happening in your life because of this treatment, please send it to my private email and I will post it in the appropriate place.

Network of Angels

There are so many of you out there extending your hands to help others who need support and giving so much of yourselves, your hearts, and your time. This is my dream-to create a network of angels helping one another. Putting good energy into something creates more good energy and this is such a good and wonderful thing.

I am trying to plant my seeds at the moment to fulfill my dream of creating a haven for those in need. A place where people can come and get treatment-to stay for a while. A place where they may be able to get help and support and knowledge.

I am certain this dream will be fulfilled and it will be a natural extension of the present state of the ICAMA.

Angels are Everywhere!

I have to say that one of the main things that keeps me going in the fight towards helping people with the dreaded illness of IC is the privilege of being able to get to know so many wonderful human beings.

A patient out there is suffering horribly and has been left in a situation with no computer to contact me with and some other patients gathered their resources to help her by buying her a blackberry, getting it, and sending it to her.

I am infinitely touched by the warmth of the human heart and all that it is capable of in the midst of despair and honored to be able to be a part in helping those who are clearly so deserving of good things to com their way.
