Outgassing

How many times do you open up a container or pick up a product and it stinks? I think when you are not healthy you may not even notice those things, but, when you are more in tune you may be more primed to be sensitive to those awful smells. It happens alot with kids toys believe it or not and lots of other products that make it into your house. Toxic outgassing exists in many things you dont think about, thinkgs that might not even fail the nose dector, like paints, hardwood floors, and other material around your home, car, clothing, and work. Here is one crazy one you may not have thought about:

It is interesting that you are posting this article because my husband and I are struggling with this right now. We just purchased a new rubber bath mat (for in the shower) and sink mat and both smell so terrible!! I feel sick around them, but am not sure what to use to replace these items. I've been leaving the bathroom window open to air that mat out, but perhaps it's dangerous to even stand on while in the shower? What do you use IN your sink and shower that is safe?

I dont use any matts and my shower doors are glass. If you can only do curtains, I would get fabric. The have fabric with also fabric liners that are waterproof that dont smell.

I have glass doors also. I was referring to the tub mat you stand on while in the shower, to keep from slipping. do you use one of those rubber mats?

I realize that now. I dont use those bc they ARE stinky. I never thought about slipping. But, a kind of way to get around it is put a towel on the bottom of the tub and ring it out after use and hang to dry and reuse it a few time and then wash and start the cycle over. This will do the trick with no chemicals!
