Pregnant!

Hi Everyone,

You haven't seen me for a while, because i have been a bit preoccupied; I am now 20 weeks pregnant! I just wanted to share this with all of you, because, to me it means so much when people post about their progress.

After being in treatment with Dr. B for a year (and having IC for three years) i was well enough to get pregnant. (I had done work before i started with Dr. B, and had made alot of progress already. So for me, getting better took about two years).

Anyway, last summer I had many symptom free days, or just minor symptoms only. Sometimes vv would flare up, or urethra irritation after voiding, or bladder pressure. But most of the time i was doing very well! I felt like i had my life back!

My feet improved too, (developed plantar fasciitis in both feet about the time i started treatment with Dr. B). At this stage i was on list 5.

I got pregnant straight away! A sign that things are working well. (previously i was diagnosed with PCOS, and was recommended fertility treatment a few years ago, what a difference!!)

I am just telling you all this to show that things do get better. I was always afraid that I wouldn't. I understand the fear! Even now, since the start of pregnancy, things have been a bit worse. (I would have symptom free days, but then i get over confident and have gluten or too much fruit, and i feel it! Or sometimes i have stabs in my bladder and i don't know why). But as Dr. B explained, any inflammation that was still there will be exacerbated by pregnancy. But i know that in the end it will be ok. The last few months of pregnancy will be hard and maybe delivery will increase my symptoms for a while. I will always have to look after my health, and can't be careless with my diet. But that is a good thing; it will prevent many other problems.

I just wanted to share this really happy time with you. Hang in there everyone! X

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Having gone through the births of both of my girls with IC, I would share with you that symptoms did not get worse towards the end or delivery;) It is entirely possible the toughest part is behind you. Enjoy this time. It goes so quickly!

Congrats! Keep us posted!! You and I were heel pain sisters LOL. GREAT to hear it has resolved for you. I have been in treatment for a year and it is better but not gone. My knee pain has improved but not gone. Such a relief to hear your heel pain is!

Check out Katy Bowman's work on alignement during pg. She has a lot on her blog and youtube for pg moms to keep the stress out of your feet and pelvic floor.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Hi All!
Thank you so much for all your replies:-)
Fahlmank; so great to hear pregnancy or delivery did not make you worse. Reading that did comfort me!
Mimi, my pf sister:-) pf improved, around the time of getting pregnant it was really good, but unfortunately my feet never got 100% better. Working a full day, walking around and standing only, would make my feet flare in the evening, but most of the time i was ok as long as i 'supported' my feet with my orthotics. Since pregnancy there is a bit of an increase in pf symptoms, but never as bad as it was at the start. Thanks for your recommendations on Katy's work, i will look into it!
I will keep you all updated as the pregnancy progresses! xx
