Bladder Flare

Has anyone else ever had a bladder flare that just wouldn't calm down no matter what you try?  I had to take antibiotics for the flu about a month ago, and my bladder has been in a major flare ever since.  Since my bladder usually flares a lot anyhow, I think the antibiotics really pushed it over the edge.

Dear Clueless,
I am so trying to tread lightly here for fear of offending.  When I saw that you had taken antibiotics for the flu I was curious if you were seeing Dr. B or going it on your own?  If you were seeing Dr B., I would be surprised if she approved the antibiotics - which I believe has greatly contributed to all of us getting sick.  She normally perscribes something to use instead, as they can make you ever so much worse.  If you aren't seeing her - you are also welcome on this site.  I'm not too sure how to respond.  I would normally ask what Dr. B has said - she's normally able to get a flare under control with an herb adjustment.
Take Care

I have been with Matia for a long time.  Normally I do not take antibiotics.  She tried many herbs for 3 weeks to try to get rid of the flu.  I had some bad lung congestion that was not improving on the herbs, so I decided to take the antibiotics.  My MD is not one to just hand them out freely.  Sometimes antibiotics are necessary.

Hello,
I so get it now.  I too have had to tread between this world and the conventional world of medicine.  Often times I feel very confused by it. I'm sorry that having to take the meds have made you worse.  What does Dr. M say about it?  I've always wondered what she does when someone has to take antibiotics.  Just curious - in case I find myself in the same boat.  My problem has been anti-anxiety meds - still haven't been able to completely kick them.
As for the bladder flare - hang in there - it will get better.  However, I find it so frustrating that one minute doing pretty dog gonned good.  Then, the next, it's back again.  So, I get it.
I'm sorry if I offended.

Hi Clueless, I understand and I also get where Denise was coming from as well in asking as I thought the same at first when I saw your post - I am not with Matia yet but about a year ago, I had to take really strong antibiotics for a kind of flu that was almost lethal, it was killing elderly people and small children. I ended up in hospital and was told that I was very ill. I know the antibiotics probably contributed to me getting IC but they were very necessary at the time and I have never regretted taking them as I was so ill. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to survive.

If you can tolerate probiotics, it should be only a matter of time until the good bacteria are able to rebuild  in your system.  I took antibiotics before starting treatment and it definitley affected my bladder for the worse.  Since starting treatment, I hav been able to avoid them but had some close calls.

I can take some problotics, but I don't do real well on them.  I only can tolerate small doses.  I've had flares like this before but none that have lasted this long.  I'm about at my wit's end with the pain.  I hadn't had antibiotics in years until this flu hit me.  It was the one that was going around this winter that lasted 6 to 8 weeks or more.  I had bad congestion in my lungs, which is something I don't usually get with colds and flus.  My MD is an alternative minded guy and only uses antibiotics when absolutely necessary.  The herbs just weren't getting rid of it.  Matia did tell me that some of her patients had that flu 2 1/2 mo.  I also had a bad sinus infection.  My teeth are all still bothering me even though I don't have the infection anymore.  I took Cipro for a week, which I did okay on, but then I ended up having to take Z-Pack.  That antibiotic is a really potent one, and I'm sure it was the culprit.
