Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone else is taking RP and how they did with it at first. I have been taking goldenseal root, megadophilus, and siberian ginseng. Matia started me on RP and I feel like my bladder got much worse and my inflammation and feeling of being swollen got worse all over my body. Has anyone else had this experience. I told matia and she staid to stop goldenseal and stay only on mega, RP, and ginseng.
Any imput would really help. I have searched old posts.

the same thing happened to me... I flared very badly with RP but she made me change other stuff...then eventually I decided to stop RP and to check, I got amazingly better in 2 days, so she said to take it out then, that was the trigger..... I really had 2 awful weeks while on RP... I know is great for most but not for me. Hope it helps.
Yep, you are so riht. I cut
Yep, you are so riht. I cut it out the past wo days instead of goldensesal and I feel better already. LIke so much better. I am bummed it is not the herb for me but I tried. Maybe further down the road it will be good.
Thanks so much for giving me your imput Soniafa :)
matia
I would consult with Matia before you take things out. There is probably a reason if she wants you to push through!!
Ya, I emailed her about it.
Ya, I emailed her about it. :)
RP
I never did very well on the RP, and I still don't to this day.
Tinkerbell- I think you are
Tinkerbell- I think you are right! I find myself spending far too much energy on my IC. Because I have reached a more stable point ( I am knocking on wood as we speak) I find that when I am out with friends or doing something I really enjoy that I can be distracted far more easily and I think that going back to my work will be a positive transition into the world of "normalacy". Plus, I love the teachers I work with and miss the kids. I will just have to be careful about food choices... maybe get a mini fridge for my room? :)
I appreciate the positive thought. What sort of volunteering do you do?
Hi fahlmank, It's so nice to
Hi fahlmank,
It's so nice to hear that you are getting better and thinking going back to work. I think that's a big sign of healing, and being ready to be more involved again. I think going back to teaching can help you greatly mentally, keeping your mind busy as well as the social interaction that opens us back to our lives before IC. I worked throughout my treatment and it helped me greatly not to dwell too much into my condition excessively. I was lucky that my condition didn't require me to stop working, but of course i had many bad days when i would wish that i could be home and resting instead. I think a part-time commitment at least is a great idea, so you can have some days to rest as well. I work in a small design company, and my boss is very understanding. I had many many sick days, not due to bladder issues, i stuck through those, but i would catch a cold from my coworkers and it'd take me twice as long to get better. I am only worried about you teaching for that reason, as it's easy to catch colds from your students. I got in such a vicious cycle of getting flue's the last 4-5 months, that i kept stopping my regular herbs to take cold remedy herbs, which i think slowed my progress. Matia thinks it could've been die-off as well, but i have hard time believing that, as i would get feverish etc at the same time. I would just consider how flexible an environment it'd be for you for those reasons only. I hope the best for you, what grade do you teach? Sounds like so much fun :)
Thank you so much for the
Thank you so much for the encouragement! My husband and I teach at the same school, which is very helpful to have him there if I have to stop in his room for a minute feel supported. In regards to having a workable environment, I think in addition to the mini fridge(Thanks Tinkerbell) I might get a little toaster over and coffee pot- I am trying not to microwave anything....which is tougher than I thought it would be. So, I think I might find myself with a little oasis-classroom;)
Selichan- Thank you for the encouragement! I, too, think it is a sign of healing. Six months ago I would have NEVER thought I could go back to teaching. Most days I think I can now... (I also have to so that forces things a bit) BUT I do think it will be good for me mentally. I also share your concern regarding being sick all the time. YIKES! In the past few years I have taught I have caught every single thing coming down the pipeline, bronchitis, sinus infections, flus- including swine flu.... teaching is like existing in its own little germ factory. At least now I have Matia to consult and get me through these things. I anticipate I will miss some school, but we have generous sick days and I will get through it. I am sure I still have flares ahead, but I think I will become healthier faster with a sense of normalacy rather than ruminating about my IC all the time. A little push will be good;)
I am a high school history teacher;) I have my undergraduate degree in history from Kenyon College and a graduate degree in education. Thanks for asking. How are you feeling these days?

Microwave
OK - I know that I should accept the microwave as being evil - I just don't want to. I think giving up my love affair with the microwave would be harder than giving up the booze, the sugar, the.......
This is the first I've heard this mentioned here - Katie, has Dr. B said anything specifically about this?
Thanks,
Denise, The microwave is
Denise,
The microwave is really tough to give up! Sometimes I microwave a cup of coffee in the evening after dinner for my dessert and I feel so guilty because I know how bad it is to radiate my food.
I have never asked Dr.B specifically about whether microwaving food is detrimental to healing. I will put it on my list to ask her at our next appointment.
After I watched a round of documentaries (all of them touching how molecules interact with the immune system and affect the healing process) I looked at how my food is being prepared. This included what type of cookware I use, if is leaches toxins, what the radiation in a microwave does to the molecules of the food... etc. Basically, the radiation changes the molecular structure of your food similar to the way genetically modified food is rearranged... it renders your food, something other than "food" in its molecular structure.
I just figure that if radiation causes cancer and is involved in nuclear weapons, I probably shouldn't be eating it;) Anything that can give me an edge in calming the inflammation I will do;)
Hope this helps,
Katie
NO
Katie,
It doesn't help. It only makes me quite aware that I am, as I knew before, living in denial. However, I do appreciate you getting back to me......I think. Man, I love my microwave.
Denise, LOL!...I hear you!
Denise,
LOL!...I hear you! I would like to simply stop learning, because each subject I learn about makes my life more primitive, time consuming and difficult! What is next? I have to hand wash my clothes? NEVER.
I honor you living in your denial;)I empathize... I like the bubble in which I live very much!
