I've got a question for ladies who experience some sort of burning as part of their symptoms. Do you notice the burning intensify with too much salt? I think the burning for me goes up if I've had a meal with salt sprinkled over it e.g chips/fries. I guess it makes sense because it's like putting salt on a wound, right?
If you don't experience burning, do you still experience salt aggravating your symptoms?
I haven't personally had this
I haven't personally had this with salt, even though burning was one of my main symptoms. But others have talked about reacting to salt, so it's definitely a thing.
has the burning resided now?
has the burning resided now? how long did it take for such a breakthrough?
what about garlic powder..too much of it aggravate burning? i'm trying to figure what could be causing the up and down in levels.
The burning in my actual
The burning in my actual bladder (not urethra or vv) subsided pretty quickly, within about 6 months. I described it as a little campfire burning in my bladder. That's what mine felt like. It was my last symptom to come on before seeing Dr m so it was one of the first to go. My vv took about 2.5 years and still comes back occasionally but isn't constant. Same with urethra, which took about 2 years for me. I'm gong through a candida thing right now though so I'm having some additional burning at the moment, but nothing like how it used to be. The rawness is more pesky.
I use Baliene sea salt
I use Baliene sea salt because it is low in minerals. Dr. M recommended it.
Tinkerbell, was your urethral burning super bad at times? I didn't have this symptom until March of this year and it hasn't let up very much since. In fact, it has been at an all time high lately and every herb combo makes it worse. I also have vv pain along with it. They both go up and down together. Did that happen to you?
How would you describe
How would you describe urethral burning vs bladder burning? i still get confused. I feel burning when i get the 'signal' to need to pee for like 2 seconds since that's my queue to go to the toilet, when i go, i feel the burning just before i release/flow. More recently that burning carries on during flow too. once flow has finished the burning does too or occasionally i'll carry on feeling it externally which will fade after a few mins. Another time i feel the burning is, when my bladder is full and i push down on it, i feel a pricking/burning towards the urethral opening (i think). So...I think the burning is located in the urethra but not sure??!!
Is vv pain when the vulva feels hypersensitive? i find that it feels super sensitive on light touch otherwise normal-ish.
Sss7, when you say you have
Sss7, when you say you have burning after chips/fries, does this mean you are eating these foods at a restaurant? I don't eat fries at restaurants unless I know 100% they are using canola oil. If they say they use "vegetable" oil, that very likely has soybean oil in it. Also, when eating out you are eating iodized salt and that could bother you? Also, Dr. B told me to be very carefull with garlic powder. It can BURN your intestines. She actually said that, so try taking it out, and then add in smaller amounts. I think even cooked garlic from list 2 onwards is probably better. Agree about the Baline it is low mineral. But your post made me think you were eating plain (iodized) salt. These are in potatoe chips too unless they say plain sea salt. Also, hate to be a downer about potato chips, but I used to eat a small portion every day and I don't think they are good for us except very rarely. Even if they don't bother your bladder, they offer no nutrition and convert immediately to sugar in the body which feeds the bad organisms. It was hard for me to give up the chips but now I don't miss them. I think french fries as a treat occasionally would be fine, but a baked potatoe or oven fries is best :)
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Hi Mimi
Hi Mimi
I know there are dual terms for the same food, just to clarify when I say chips I mean fries, crisps are chips I think in US?! :)
i sometimes eat chips from outside without salt and I ask what ingredients are in the chips (at which point I get weird looks!) Mostly I buy a bag of frozen chips and fry them at home. They're pre-fried in sunflower oil which I checked with Boaz is ok. I also used to eat Kettle chips sea salt flavour. But I found the burning would intensify after so I stopped eating those. I love chips (fries) and don't think I can give those up :( I will try having oven chips over fried though. At one point I thought maybe potato is bothersome but I later found it's ok. At lunch I had a homemade burger seasoned with sea salt and garlic powder only with chips from a fish & chip shop which I've had before with no problem. But today, I noticed burning go up after and now the vulva area feels sore too. I'm guessing the cause was either too much garlic powder in the burger or the salt sprinkling on the chips. Maybe cooked salt is better because it dissolves in cooking whereas the one from a salt shaker is 'raw' - if that makes any sense?! Regarding the garlic powder, I actually think it's stronger than fresh cooked garlic. I've taken the garlic powder out before and it didn't make much of a difference so I added back in small amounts.
It really is so frustrating because I was starting to feel better in the last couple of days and now back to square 1. I can't figure out why because it's not like I've done anything different or added in new foods. The strange thing is a couple of weeks ago I had two days with zero burning and even then I didn't do anything differently. It's driving me mad!!!
Rachel, yes my urethral
Rachel, yes my urethral burning was VERY bad especially in the beginning. It was very difficult for me to distinguish between most of my "downstairs" feelings (bladder, urethra, female parts) for quite some time. I was honestly such a mess, I never had any decent moments. It was one big flare for months and months. Didn't even know when herbs or food were making me worse or helping. Dr. M said it would be easier to distinguish as I became more stable, and she was right about that. I also felt that my vv and urethra symptoms went up and down together... but I sometimes wonder if one symptoms was actually radiating into another area. For example, I sometimes feel a sense of urgency coming from my vagina area, not my bladder.
sss7, to me, bladder burning is in the actual bladder organ. Lower abdominal region right above or slightly behind the bone there. My urethra burning was more toward the opening of the urethra, then up the tube, although it is small. It took me a long time to be able to distinguish between these two. All of the feelings kind of mesh together until they become more stable and you can become more attuned to what's going on.
By the sounds of it I've
By the sounds of it I've always had urethral burning. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the bladder instillations I used to get last year that further irritated the urethra to the point that I'm in one big flare. I haven't really had a day (apart from a couple recently) when I haven't had any burning. For me, a flare is just worsening of burning rather than occurrence of burning. Stupid urologist tells me after numerous sessions that he wouldn't recommend anymore instills as it could be adding to irritation ugh!!!!
I agree that I feel vv pain and urethral hand in hand too. The only thing I notice now is how far inside I feel the burning/irritation. Compared to before, it feels like the burning has moved further down towards the opening and definitely externally. I keep telling myself it's a good thing because it's moving out of me..true or not, I don't know but it's what I want to believe haha
Could be. I also had DMSO
Could be. I also had DMSO instillations before finding Dr. M. They most definitely made my pain much worse. You're fortunate your urologist told you the truth that they could be causing irritation. Mine told me that even though they were making me feel worse, I just had to keep going with them in order to feel better. But after about three of them, I ended up finding Dr. M so I stopped going to the urologist all together.
Glad to hear you only had
Glad to hear you only had three and stopped. I had at least 12 before I read that it could be adding to the problem and when the urologist mentioned it I thought ok I'm done with is!!! I really wish I found the Brizmans earlier. After about a year of symptoms continuing to get worse, I was recommended Boaz. Thank god for them :)
Tinkerbell and Sss, you guys
Tinkerbell and Sss, you guys described what I am feeling to a "T"! This actually makes me feel so much better because I've been freaking out about this. I have been in treatment for over three years and just in the last several months, the pain has moved lower and has gotten really intense. My bladder and vv stuff goes up and down together and it feels like my ureters are also inflamed. I'm so glad to know that I'm not alone in this, but I am praying that we all feel so much better really soon!
Aww I'm glad you feel better
Aww I'm glad you feel better about it, you are definitely not alone in this. You can count on me to relate on these horrid symptoms!
I'm assuming you're in treatment with Matia? Has she shed any light on why the pain has moved down?
Oh...another thing I wonder is, does anyone else feel their urine is hotter than usual at times?
Yes, I have been in treatment
Yes, I have been in treatment for three years. And I do feel like my urine is hot a lot lately.
