I know you guys get a haircut. I need advice on how to do it without causing a flare. I requested a dry cut but am worried about the salon smells and how to explain my situation to ther person cutting my hair. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I can't wait until list 2 when I can color my hair again because I have roots.
I have been able to find
I have been able to find people who cut hair in their homes and I'm the only one there when they cut it so no salon smells. And they cater to me as far as using my shampoo, etc. But I have gotten a dry cut from them in a pinch when I really need a haircut but can't sit for very long. Maybe you could start asking around to your friends and family and try to find someone in your area.
Find a very small salon where
Find a very small salon where you can get in at the beginning or end of the day and it is well ventilated. That way you will not be competing with chemicals. I had a horrible flare the first year of treatment (I mean, not unbearable, but it lasted a whole day) due to poorly ventilated salon. I feel sorry for those people. Anyway, I now have a woman that comes to my house and cuts EVERYONE's hair. It is the BEST and I hope I never have to go back to a salon. I don't color my hair tho, so I guess if you do you will have to go back. But maybe still someone can color you at your house.
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

I planned to use the recommended color and do it myself when I start coloring it.
Alanna, check around and see
Alanna, check around and see if you have an Organic Salon in your area. I am so blessed to have one just down the street. You cannot smell anything when you enter this salon. I know the owner personally and she is a fanatic about things that touch the skin. She studies the ingredients very carefully. They have really worked with me on the color too. The one they used did cause me to flare so I take my Naturtint and my Bomamed shampoo and conditioner. They are really sweet about it. Hope you can find someone or somewhere that will work with you. It's one of those things that make us feel better about ourselves and a little bit normal :)
