I'm having some leg pain--first my right leg was tingling--then sensation was dulled and now its KILLING ME. The pain is around my hip and around to the mid theigh. Anyone else ever have anything similar?

When I first started with Matia I had terrible hip pain. It was a very deep pain and had a sensation of heat. As I have gone through treatment it has subsided substantially. It usually crops up when I am having other inflammation issues. It is much milder now and only lasts a few hours. My massage therapist told me that in Chinese medicine the location of my hip pain was reflecting issues with my intestines. It is so interesting how in Chinese medicine the parts of the body are tied together in a way that Western medicine does not acknowledge. Carol

Hi, I have the leg and hip pain too. Carole, when did it start to improve for you? Is it also related to die-off? I had the leg pain before I started treatment but it's sometimes even stronger now, I'm only 4 months in treatment now.Vicky

The sensation of heat went away within a few months after I started with Matia. I'm afraid it took a while for my hip pain to really start feeling like it was improving - maybe a 1.5 years or so. I also had searing mid back pain, which I had for at least 20 years before I came down with IC. I always assumed my back pain was due to my having a mild case of scoliosis. When I first met with Matia she told me that my hip and back pain were related to my iC, which was a surprise to me and of course during my years of treatment I have discovered that this is indeed true. My hip and back pain would usually flare up at the same time and I was never able to figure out what would set off the inflammation. My hips and my back are so much better now, if they do act up it's short lived and a very low level of pain. For me, this is the silver-lining of having come down with IC and finding Matia. My back pain could be excruciating in the late afternoons and I don't know if I would have ever experienced back pain-free days without Matia's help. Carol

Hi Carol, thanks for your reply! So patience is very important during treatment... My hip and leg pain are related to endometriosis, these pains always aggravate around ovulation and my period, it doesn't feel like a burning pain but more like cramps and nerve pain. Most people on this board also have other health problems next to IC, but I haven't found anyone with endo. I juist hope that these pains will also decrease when my body starts to get into balance. My nails are getting stronger and my skin has improved, and friends tell me that I look good lately, but sometimes I'm concerned because the cycle pains don't seem to calm down although my body is getting stronger. Did you also notice these kind of improvements before the rest started to improve?Vicky

Hi Vicky, yes, that was one of the frustrating things for me. I felt like I was getting so much stronger and looked so much healthier, but I was still having to deal with my joint pain and my IC/VV pain. These were the things that took longer to improve. My joint pain also kicks up around ovulation and my period, something about the hormonal changes seems to cause an increase in inflammation. You will notice that your pains become less intense as you progress in treatment. I have learned a lot about patience during my treatment. You really have to keep the long view in mind and also celebrate the little improvements that you are making - stronger nails and better looking skin are a great sign that your body is getting back into balance. Hi Carol, thanks a lot for your reply, it's so nice to hear that you have improved so much, it really gives me a lot of courage. I find it quite frustrating too, that I look better, that my nails and skin improved so much, but that I'm not feeling better yet. But I will celebrate the little improvements because my bowels haven't felt so calm in a very long time, I still get IBS but it's really a lot better Are you still on the diet and taking herbs now? Hi Vicky - I've been on list 5 for at least a year now. And the way I see it. list 5 is pretty much how we should eat even after we're finished with treatment. I am able to eat pretty freely - just no alcohol and processed sugar and very minimal soy intake. I also don't eat a lot of wheat or yeast. I am still in treatment, Matia says I just need to keep going until my yeast withers away entirely. I feel very close to being completely free of it, though I must say it is very stubborn. Things get a lot easier once you get through the first part of treatment. Just keep moving forward and you will continue to improve!Carol

hi carol,list 5 is good! I think it's important that we always watch out with our diet, I have never really eaten very unhealthy but I think I would also stay away from alcohol and too much sugar... it's so good that your health has become so much better, I hope you will soon feel 100% better!
I will be patient, but sometimes I get scared because my symptoms are often different from everyone else's symptoms, but I know that we don't have to compare ourselves too much to others. I've had surgery for endometriosis and I think that a big part of my pain is caused by scar tissue from the surgery, so I just hope that these pains will also get better...
