What lipsticks are everyone using?  I love MAC and NARS but assume they have gnarly and cancerous...sigh.  Are there any natural ones with really good colors without coconut?  Origins?  Aveda?  What's the deal?

Nicole recommended Real Purity lipstick. $$$ http://www.allnaturalcosmetics.com/products.php?view=detail&cat_id=4&scat_id=18&pl_id=109
Ingredients: Candellila wax, beeswax, aloe vera extract, sweet almond oil, iron oxides, titanium dioxide, kaolin, pycnogenol.
Most natural lipsticks have vitamin E and/or coconut oil.  If you have problems with burning, I would try to avoid those ingrients.
There has got to be a decent over the counter lipstick that is affordable.  Since Maybelline and Cover Girll are approved, I am wondering if other OTC lipsticks are OK if they do not contain problem ingredients like Vitamin E and/or coconut oil.   Sometimes I use Revlon Colorburst lipstick. This would be a great topic for the next support meeting.  Maybe you could even suggest Matia do a blog on approved OTC lipsticks.

yeah--i think i'll ask at my next appt.  the other problem is finding a hot color in the natural stuff.  i looked at the whole foods selection and it was HIDEOUS.  the gabriel looks like it might have some stuff--but i dont want to order lipstick over the internet.  whats the deal with something like origins or aveda? do you know?
which shampoo do you use btw--this neem stuff is horrendous.  2 years of nasty hair is really starting to make me grouchy.

Have you tried California Baby shampoo?  Yes the Neem shampoo was hideous on me as well.  I looked so greasy.  I tried Nature's Gate with aloe and had the same poor results.  I have been using Biolage products but need to change to a healthier brand.  Nicole likes the following conditioner http://africaimports.com/Itemdesc.asp?ic=M-431&eq=&Tp=.
My next goal is to try the California Baby shampoo with the African Import Conditioner.

I've been using Nature's gate with aloe for a couple of years now. I really like it, but the trick is to use as little conditioner as possible, or not at all.

having the same frustrations with cosmetics.
Jason Biotin shampoo helped my hair. As far as lipstick wondering same things. All the nice looking ones seem to have lots of metals such as tin, copper, mica and other things that I'm under the impression we are not allowed??
It's totally unclear to me. I know Matia said that we should avoid Mica, but it seems to be in everything, and other minerals such as titanium and iron oxides, wondering if there is exceptions for lipstick. The fact that the lipstick goes in our mouth, does that make it more important? I don't know?

I found a great deal on California Baby Shampoo at drugstore.com.  They sent me an email for 20% off and free shipping on orders over $25 for being a new customer.  There current special is buy two California Baby products and get $6 off the third product.  I bougth 2 8oz. shampoos and 1 8oz. conditioner for $22.  I added tooth paste (also on special) to make the order total over $25.  Hope this helps :o)
P.S.  I would recommend calling their customer service department if you want the new customer special.

I have 2 Origins lipsticks. They have GREAT colors -both with and without shimmer. I had 2 Aveda lipglosses, which I found really nice, beautiful colors and mine have no shimmer, so they're very natural.
I still use MAC lipsticks because it's hard to find that much choice, or trendy colors in natural makeup. I have to admit that although I really prefer the ideology of "pure" in everything, sometimes the textures and effects are just amazing in these chemical cosmetics.
Well, there is quite a market out there to create amazing natural cosmetics, that's for sure!
Oh and as far as shampoo goes, I use the baby shampoo from Lavera (german brand) which smells and cleanses great! If you have curly hair, you can always try to CO wash your hair (Conditionner-Only Wash).

I ordered the real purity lipstick and the colors didn't work out. They have a pretty small color selection and the shipping was really high.  They had a BOGO special so I ordered two lipsticks instead of the samples.  I need to try Origions.
Yesterday, I tried the California Baby shampoo.  I used a ton of shampoo and it cleaned my hair pretty good.   The conditioner didn't work very well.  I am going to try to leave it in and see if that helps.  Matia recommended them but they contain coconut and vitamin E.  I am going to ask her about it at my next appointment.

I asked Matia about lipsticks, she said that she really likes Whole Foods makeup and their lipsticks are great too.
She also recommended Gabriel color.

I would definitely agree that they have the best color selection.

So I went to  Whole Food's cosmetic section as Matia suggested, and OMG, I just wanted to buy everything there :). They have excellent selection, not just by Gabriel Color, but a couple of other companies (I noticed that different locations have slightly different color selection). I ended up buying 2 lipsticks by Hemp organics. LOVE THEM! In my opinion they last longer than the expensive department store ones, and they also have awesome selection of lip pencils. Definitely worth a trip!
And then I found this site:

Here is a great color chart for Hemp Organics.  They have a 15% off coupon.   http://www.vashonorganics.com/product_images/hemp_org_lipstick_chart.jpg
My Whole Foods doesn't carry this brand.  Also, I checked with Matia and she said Gabriel Color was too risky for me since it had coconut oil.  I am on list 1 and have bladder pain.  If your main symptom is frequency, Gabriel color might be fine.  I would check with Matia first.

I would like to use Origins lipstick but am wondering if it contains too much Vitmain E.  Have any of you run the ingredients by Matia?

I sent Matia a copy of Origins and Aveda's lipstick ingredients.  She said Origins is healthier but Aveda has less ingredients that cause pain.  Hope this helps in your lipstick quest:o)
