hot drinks

Hi, can anyone recommend a hot drink to take whilst in early stages..?  I was really enjoying my 1 black coffee but my bladder can't tolerate it.  I daren't try green tea as I believe this will be even worse given past experience.

I know first stages are about detox, hence the choices of drink.  I wonder whether it would be ok to move onto black tea and chamomile?  Thinking about it I might give decaf coffee a try as I know caffiene's a huge problem for me.

Any advice would be appreciated..

Are you drinking the right coffee?  M recommended to me French Roast, which is strong but I water it down until its very weak.  I would also recommend using real coffee rather than the instant stuff which is popular here in the UK.  I get Waitrose own French Roast brand.
What you may not realise is that the stronger the coffee the less caffeine ther is in it.  Someone who works in Starbucks told me this once.
Also if you try decaff then make sure its organic so that its naturally decaffinated bc the chemicals used to decaff coffee can make it very acidic I think.
Otherwise I can only suggest weak standard black tea.  I sometimes have redbush or rooibos but I'm not sure that is so bladder friendly.

Hi Carol, yes I saw a post on here from the woman who works at starbucks.  I've been using instant arabica from lidl as I heard there was less caffiene in arabica beans.  I tried decaf today but still problematic but like you say I think instants can be acidic.  I'll try once more with the french roast weakened down..I'm not beaten yet.  Will I need to buy a coffee pot??
Is there a recommended black tea do you know?  Redbush used to be my regular cup of tea and my bladder was ok with it but I find it too drying on my throat at the moment.

told me that decaf is a def NO if you flare at all from coffee. She said get the strongest you can, because it is much less processed. In the beginning, she told me to avoid organic because it seemed to bother people more, though she wasn't sure why. Now, I drink very dark blends, organic, and the organic I seem to do even better with.
Decaf of any kind will be very very processed, and that is why it will bother you so much, or this is what Matia told me. I still flare from Decaf. And yes, like Carole said, I would really suggest getting a drip coffee maker, and grinding your own whole beans, or just buy dark roast (I started with French Roast too) ground coffee.
I hope you find something that your bladder allows you to have!

I am not allowed to any drinks other than black tea, early grey. Matia said one time that Chamomile could make me more puffy.
I suppose everyone's case is different and you could just ask her in your appointment I suppose.

i know this might sound really silly, but when i couldn't drink any "fun" hot drinks...i tried drinking just hot water...from a very nice cup.  It was actually OK!
I also drank warm chicken broth as a drink. i found that since i had to give up coffee and tea for awhile, the warm water or chicken broth was better than nothing!!!
Now that i can have coffee and tea, i actually opt for warm water once and awhile!!!

Thanks for that info Hopeful, its on the lists that naturally decaffinated is Ok but I wonder now if that is not helping my night time frequency.  I normally have very weak decaff when I get home from work.

I wonder why organic is worse?

Missmadmolly, you can get a cheap coffee filter machine easily, I think I paid £7 for my first one from sainsburys.  Make sure you still only use your usual water in it though.  I buy the big bottles of Carreg Glen from Lidl.  You get a pack of 8 x 2L bottles for £2.

Chicken broth ( and yes water second to that for me ) is a very good idea. I have had this, and it is very yummy when piping hot. I make my own chicken broth, and that way you know it will be OK, or a better chance that it will!
Carole, you are correct that she says Decaf. I wonder why though? Some people I guess do ok with it? She has always told me it is a big no in the beginning and will bother a lot of people later on too. I wish I did handle it : / I would love to have a cup once in awhile in the evening.

I am not a coffee drinker but like everyone else, I love a hot drink. I used to drink dandeloin coffee before I changed my diet - does Matia allow dandeloin root coffee eventually? I would love to have it back some time again.

Hi - apologies for my stupidity but i'm still unsure of what sort of coffee pot I need..?  The small and cheap espresso makers that I think just go on the hob and I suppose make 1 cup or what i know as a perculater which makes a big glass potful..?
Can someone shed some light pretty please :)

I use a filter coffee maker.  Do a google search and you will get some pictures.
You put your ground coffee in a paper filter and fill up the reservoir with your bottled water, press the start button and the water filters through the coffee into the jug.  You can make it as weak as you want.

Thanks carol it seems there is alot of choice. Had a look today and for economical purposes I was thinking of going down the mocha pot/espresso route as they go on the hob and are for single use (plus they look cute)  And I'm only making coffee for little old me.  Oh I really don't know.

How long does your filter machine take to make a cup?  Is it economical in your opinion?  Geez what alot of chat over a coffee pot! Soz :/
