Bifido Factor discomfort

So I am starting bifido factor for the 2nd time right now and it makes me have a lot of pressure in my bladder and it makes me pee more. Does anyone know why it does this or anyone have a similiar situation happen to them? It makes me feel like I am getting worse rather than better but I know that can't be the case. Does anyone have any incite into the matter? Is this a huge yeast killer? Any help would be appreciated!

I dont have bladder pressure often times on bifido factor, though I get very anxious and I kind of get sad when Matia increases my doses ( It is large intestine probiotic and Honeybee had told me one time that large intestine is related to lungs, which are related to sadness/grief in chinese medicine, if you have any emotions like that could be from bifido. but of course everyone is different.)

Bifido often causes me pressure and frequency.  If it is too uncomfortable contact Matia and she may adjust the dose.  I have been on and off of Bifido for months, sometimes taking tiny doses and then increasing as my body accepted it, only for it to be removed again later.
Its important to keep Matia informed about how your body is reacting to it

Oh yeah I tell her when it bothers me. That's why I discontinued the use the first time. Within days it just seemed to really mess up my bladder and then one morning I couldn't even pee. It was really scary. I just want to know WHY it may affect my bladder and WHAT it does. Matia doesn't really have the time to explain it during our phone conferences b/c of so much we have to talk about. So I would love to know what it is actually doing. :)

It's so funny how everyone is different here. I love me some Bifido, LOL : ) It took care of my constipation and I actually feel a bit nervous because Matia changed my protocol today and took it out. Never had a problem with it, on the contrary, it's one of my favorite probiotics.

Lee Lee, I just started bifado factor for the first time a couple weeks ago. I feel the same way! I feel more bloated and have more pressure than I used to.  I am following the diet perfect and I still feel this way. I just keep thinking it must be die off because I am having cold like symptoms too.  I wonder if it will go away after awhile??? Does anyone know how long it affects you for or does it not back off?

That's so interesting that it is SO different! It's just really odd to me because I literally have extreme minimal IC symptoms when I do not take the bifido. I have pelvic pain here and there. But Bifido actually makes me feel like how it was in the beginning - pelvic pain, i can feel my bladder, frequency, urgency, etc. It's so odd. I hate taking it. HATE. But Matia says that it is actually a good thing and it shows that I actually need it. I really wish I understood more. Any more insight would be awesome!

LeeLee, Ive been experiencing the very same thing and only realised it when I saw your post. I had to stop bifido for this very reason, though mine was more pressure and was bearable. I do wonder what it means, that some people can tolerate it and we cant.

I dont seem to do so well on it either.  Increased frequency and feeling  I've just stopped taking it after a week.

I get a lot of die off in my lungs and can't get to sleep due to a feeling of anxiety which I think stems from the feeling it causes in my lungs.. sounds strange but this is my deduction!

Hi LeeLee,
Matia put me on 1/4 a pill 3X a day. That week i felt sooo good, it was too good to be true! Still trying to understand if i am having die off or flare from dust or nail polish, but suddenly after that great week,  i had increased burning with pee and pressure, foggy head, headachy, lack of focus, urgency. Matia reduced the dose to once a day now. After a few days, i am feeling better with burning but i still get foggy head occasionally, which is like my head and ears have so much pressure and i feel sensitive to light. Hope you handle it better the second time around.

I think in general in early treatment and frankly sometimes in later tx- the probiotics can be harsh- we eventually build up to where we accept them. Its crazy cause in the beginning for me- my body could NOT tolerate the bif. My pain levels would just skyrocket. I think it took my 6 months or longer to get a whole bif in my system. And then one day when my body was adjusted it seemed to CRAVE the bifido, I mean I would chug the probiotics like it was water and I was super dehydrated. My body WANTED that BIF and it would feel REALLY good and my regularity would improve too! but then at different points it would become  REALLY REALLY uncomfortable again and usually that was a signal to take me off it- so don't get disheartened and think that it will always feel like that. The herbs and probios are just kind of hard to deal with at first sometimes and then as you get stronger you will really begin to enjoy more magnified benefits of how they are working for you in ways that don't include annoying side effects like increased freq. or urgency. Thanks!

Wow that is awesome that your body did so well with them later on! This second go around has been a much smoother ride - not perfect - but it definitely isn't as intense. :)
Mary, do you know what the bi factor does exactly? Is it a huge yeast killer?

Bifido does have yeast killing as an action but I would say it primarily repopulates the large intestine with the freindly bacteria as opposed to the megadolphilus which focuses more on the small intestine. I think this is why it helps the constipation. The think though that the bloating/gas has a werid influence on the frequency urgency increasing sometimes. I don't undertand that. I will ask Matia about it. - Mary

Matia started me on the bifo yeserday, I'm on 1/2 capsule with 1 mega and 2 ginseng 3 times daily.  The first dose no change but since the second the soreness/rawness in the bladder has increased and I have had pressure like I haven't had for qute some weeks now.  I get off the loo and the pressure is immediately there again, I don't go back but feel like sitting on the loo the whole day.  Struggling and wasn't sure whether to let Matia know straight away or wait a couple more days to see if things improve.  She did say to let her know if I have anything but a positive result but was thinking 2 days was too early to know.
I did struggle when the mega was raised to 2 per dose earlier in treatment so it was taken out and then added back in at 1 per dose which I tolerated.
It's really frustrated as I know that I need to get the probiotics in and don't know whether to push through or not or if doing so would do more harm than good.
Lee Lee would love to now how you are coping now.

She probably won't respond until Monday or Tuesday (holiday) but I would get your email in queue. If this were happening to me, I would take the BF out entirely or reduce it until hearing back from her. Good luck.

I am doing much better on it Lynette. I think it still messes with me a little but not nearly as bad as the first time I tried to use it. Let her know ASAP you are having trouble. I'm sorry you are going through that!

I kinda wanted to update this just in case there is a new patient that may deal with this and puts it in the search engine.... I can now tolerate the bifido with NO problems whatsoever. I take a whole one 3 times a day. Yay! It was such a struggle in the beginning but now my body has adjusted and gotten healthier to be able to take it so I am very happy with that.

This was a lot of insight.  The posts really help me.  I have been on Bifida since February.  I worked my way up to a 1/2 3x a day and started exhibiting horrible sinus infections that were brutal and nausea so I went off and now again at only 1/4 3 x a day.  I am still having major die off symptoms with the bif and some bladder pain too.  The die off is the worst.  I feel like I have the flu especially after I eat in the morning.  It was interesting to read about the whole lung connection to this probiotic.  I grew up with horrific asthma as a child and teen.  I almost died cause of this.. this may explain why I am having a harder time/longer time adjusting to this probiotic.  It also scares me!  As far as depression.  I only become depressed/anxious when my pain is bad.  My emotions just go with how I am feeling.  Any thoughts ladies?
