I am having serious issues with deodorant.  I have heard Crystal deodorant is safe.  Do the ingrediants in the roll on deodorant look good or should I try the origional stick?http://www.thecrystal.com/crystal_body_deodorant.cfm

I have the roll on and absolutely love it.  I have had no problems  with it.  I have not run it by Matia, but I have no issues with it and it is much better than other deodorants so I use it.Good luck!xoBecky

Everything I've read said that Crystal deodorants still contain aluminum -as seen in ingredients list ("alum")- and that's the main issue (not for IC-reaction issues but for safety/general health).  So why do people talk like it's ok/different?!?!
I will make a plug for Herbal Magic deodorant.  Harder to find than some of the others and I"m not crazy about the wet roll-on business but it was the best odor-control of the many many I tried.

It is potassium alum and not the metal aluminum, which is different.here is an excerpt:
Understanding Mineral Salts
Mineral salts are present in the water we drink, in almost all the foods we eat, and in the air we breathe.
In its natural form, alum is the third most abundant element in nature, after oxygen and silicon. It has been part of our environment since the beginning of time and is one of the basic building blocks of our universe.
Deodorants made of alum based mineral salts feature physically large potassium or ammonium alum molecules which are not absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream.
Alum should not be confused with the controversial and potentially harmful aluminums found in most commercial deodorants and antiperspirants, like aluminum chlorohydrate or aluminum zirconium.
The foundation of Crystal deodorants is natural mineral salt harvested directly from the earth called alum.taken form the page:http://www.thecrystal.com/crystal_insights.cfm#Alumyou can also look at the environmental working groups page listed at www.cosmeticsdatabase.com.you can look at products and see their toxicity level on a score of 0 to 10 with 10 being extremely toxic.  You can also note the organ system that it affects as well.  If you look up the crystal stick as well as the roll on and you will see the toxicity level is a 0.  Pretty hard to find in a deodorant that works as great as the crystal does and you cant get much safer than that.Becky

Be careful with Toms of Maine Apricot.....It received a level 5 out of 10 for toxicity on environmental working groups web site. (10 being the worst and 0 being not toxic.)I used to use that too and it does smell FABU and works great but not good for the body.  :(http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/browse.php?atatime=100&category=deodorant&&showmore=products&start=700

I use tom's of maine calendula original care deodorant stick.  It's not the best in the summer with the sweating but it works pretty well in the winter months.  I've checked this with Matia and she said is was fine to use.

Check out 'gentle products guide' - Lafe - listed as ok for List 2. Available from Amazon and their own website: www.lafes.com/ It has some interesting articles/blogs - mentions a shocking case from UK: "The story, in the Daily Mail, details the case, in which the 12-year-old sprayed copious amounts of Lynx brand deodorant on himself while in a cramped bathroom, and inhaled the fumes, which triggered an irregular heartbeat that led to his untimely death. The coroner in the case noted that the dangers of inhaling excessive amounts of the product in closed spaces were marked clearly on the packaging.
