Often when I get a new patient, or when I have a patient that is struggling to understand why her body is not getting well as quickly as she would like, she will insist on doing allergy tests and change her diet based on the results of such testing.
I have always said that these tests are unimportant and insignificant and that the diet that I outline for my patients has far more clinical impact as it is designed and applied to each person I treat individually. I alter the diet slightly depending on the person's reactions to the foods they are eating. When patients alter their diets in accordance with allergy testing, positive changes do not occur.
This article just came accross my desk this morning is entirely news to me, I was unaware of any disagreement within the scientific community regarding the validity of allergy testing. Interestingly, there is quite a body of evidence from multiple scientific arenas to the contrary.
In my opinion, at least with this condition, and it's accompanying conditions, using the diet that I outline and individualize for each person's uique physiological state is the best adjunct food therapy for this process. Lstly, I would like to say that tupical allergic reactions are simply a picture in time based on how the immune system is functioning. These allergic reactions are changeable as the body becomes better balanced and those reactions will stop occuring. I have seen evidenc of this year after year in this work.
