OFten when my patients have babies and if they have problems instead of using the various probiotics for babies out there, I recommed using the adult ones in MINUTE doses with of course, the permission of the baby's pediatrician.
I typically wil start with lactobacillus acidophilus. This often will address colic and skin issues as a start to helping their immune systems. this is the beginning and I build from there.
Here is an article where they are studing another lacto strain on baby eczema. It is interesting in that although they are using a different straint eh result is the same.
In my practice, it is really fascinating how the trend in pediatrics has changed dramatically in that now I find pediatricians are recommending probiotics from almost birth, whereas before they were so apprehensive to recommend them during the infant months at all.
Th trend is also changing in medicine in general with the use of probiotics fro many conditions and researchers are only on the cutting edge of realizing their value.
