Menopause and IC

Someone asked me yesterday if going through menopause will inevitably make IC worse. She is concerned because she is very young and doing a lot of hard work on her body and is worried that when she is feeling healthy and balanced everything will return later when she is of menopausal age. Good question. Menopause often comes with many symptoms that are very IC like-such as vaginal changes, urinary frequency, urgency or burning.

So, reaching menopause and having had IC can be confusing. It is also true for pregnancy which also may come with its own set of urinary symptoms.

It is important to know that the more balanced you are going into menopause (and pregnancy), the less problematic that process will be for you. Many women go through menopause with very few problems. The patients I have had that have had the most fierce symptoms with menopause were those having severe gastrointestinal disorders such as ulcerative colitis, crohn's, and other disorders involving the intestines.

The intestines are the core of our chronic health as well as our chronic illness. The more balanced we are in our intestines, the more balanced we will become in the rest of our body and the natrual processes that we are desgned to go through will happen with much less effort or discomfort.
