What is your opinion on fecal bacteriotherapy?
I enjoyed reading the artical. What is your opinion on the future of fecal bacteriotherapy?
I think this is a great
I think this is a great article, too. But - as they say, it is difficult to influence the intestinal bacteria just via oral administration (I have read that it is not only about yogurt, which they mention in this article, but also the probiotics!). I would love to know your opinion, because I always wonder how much of that probiotics we are taking actually reaches the intestine... I used to use entero-solvent capsules in the past to avoid losing the bacteria on their way.:)
I also wonder what your
I also wonder what your opinion is on fecal transplant?? There is not a whole lot of research done on it due to the lack of money the pharmacutical companies make using stool compared to giving vancomycin. As a nurse working in internal medicine, I see so many pts come in with chronic c-diff and crohns, and ulcerative colitis. Do you think that the fecal transplant would work for patients with leaky gut or only pts with colon related diseases?
Fecal Transplants
It sounds like fecal transplants can work wonders in many cases, but, my feeling is that with leaky gut, it wont do the tick. I dont think the transplant of bacteria can repair the lining of the gut, which is the other very significant side of treating this problem. However, this is my opinion only, I have no way of knowing this in any concrete form.
