I share my thoughts from time to time as many of you know. I am sorry if they seem to personal, but, I think all things are pertinent in life and to health and the way the body/mind works. So here is my thought today:
Someone wrote me an email the other day and it reminded me how powerful the impact of our words and actions are and how important it is to touch someone with the power of your own being.
And, while this person could have gone through her own experience of life without taking a moment to share a bit of her heart with me that day, the fact that she did shifted my own being in a really positive way. And, I am certain that that positive effect went on to reverbertate through all of the other people that I interacted with that day and perhaps the all of the following days.
This morning, I read a quote that I really liked and wanted to share because, while it could be interpreted as negtive, it might serve as a reminder that we all need to remember, we are beings sharing this experience of being-"beings"-with one another. Remembering that the words that we speak and the actions that we take will effect all of those around us and ourselves in potentially profound ways is very important and empowering.
So, take the time to be kind and to remember, even if we dont know the person we are speaking to, they are someone's child, someone's brother or sister, they are important, and it is important that we treat them with kindness and love. It will make you feel better in your own heart as well.
The quote:
"I am just a human being trying to do my best in a world that is quickly losing it's understanding of being human"
Poet John Trudell

Dear Dr. B
I thoroughly enjoy when you share your thoughts - it is often what makes this rather difficult journey much more tolerable.
I have been struggling quite a bit of late - wrapped up in my own woes. So much so that I checked myself into a limited in patient mental health program. I go down those long hospital corridors, into an elevator and up to the 9th floor - where you have to be buzzed into the secure floor where in-patient also exists.
My goal in going there - was to find myself again - which is still my hope. The thing is, I've also found a community of others - I've never experienced group therapy before - it has so brought to the forefront -your above mentioned words - "it might serve as a reminder that we all need to remember, we are beings sharing this experience of being-"beings"-with one another" I am finding that my salvation, and quite possibly theirs, is greatly intertwined.

I love what you wrote and that you are finding yourself in others and others in you. Isn't that so true of life? We all have the same basic needs and often share the same fears and pain.I have found the thing that has made me grow the most as a human being is my interaction and observation of other people's struggles and growth. And, those experiences absolutely impact my own journey in a positive way even if the interaction is perceivably negative or painful.REalizing the true meaning of empathy is something I endeavor to acheive daily, and sometimes I feel like I am closer to attaining it. I am glad you are having that experience, as I am certain it will make you stronger and allow you to find things inside of yourself that you may not even be aware are there. You have a lot of heart and a lot of soul and I am certain by you being a part of that program you will help others to find themselves and that experience will help you rediscover all of your own wonderful qualities.
