Struggling with weight

There was this great article that came out of Peabody University several years back that linked pobesity with overgrowth of microorganisms. I lost it and cannot find it at the moment. I will see if I can find it and will post it. It was very interesting.

This article came to me yesterday, which, is kind of the same point only from the opposite side of the spectrum. In the Peabody study, it argues overgrowth contributes, in this study it is that the good organisms have been diminished and that can cause you to be overwiehgt. However, the link between those two issues illustrates how important the balance of organisms is in our intestines!

Here is the article: http://vitals.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/22/13399483-antibiotics-may-help-make-you-fat-studies-show?lite

I am amazed that when I am on a specific protocol to kill this yeast, I lose weight effortlessly, even while still eating potatoes and rice.  Two years ago when I introduced more list 3 foods like nuts and fruit and cut back on grains, my weight crept back up which confused me.  I guess this was the yeast condition returning (hence back to list 2) and the bad bugs causing me to gain? I'm not overweight, I'm talking about 7-8 pounds here, but even that makes a big difference in how my clothes fit and how healthy I feel.  I feel better and slimmer while cleansing the yeast for sure, although I don't think it's sustainable to eat only list 2 foods forever and I hope I won't be on SF forever (ha!). But it makes me almost afraid to proceed through the lists as I don't want that weight to come back on.  Does the body, once healed, really balance out in this regard and these ups and downs and fluctuations become more stable?
With regard to the gluten discussion, I have never found it easier to keep weight off (lost 10 lbs. immediately) and my blood sugar and hunger seems MUCH more stable since cutting it out four years ago. (Real hunger vs. needing a meal every 3 hours to satisfy crashing blood sugar). I'm sure all that wheat was contributing to the yeast overgrowth.

Flygrilsam: Funny you bring this up -- there's a forum discussion happening on this exact topic: http://www.icama.org/forum/dr-brizmans-protocol/2012/08/20/how-keep-weig...

flygirlsam,
I completely agree with you. I was eating some homemade spelt biscuits and I bloated up big. Even my hips got big and swollen. But when I don't eat grains, I am small, and deflated. I just swell up with grains. I am guessing it is just because we are still imbalanced and having a reaction to it. When we heal our guts, I am thinking it will go away.
