Someone asked me about my feelings on thyroid medicine. The issue with this particularmedicine is that it is overly prescribed in my opinion, and i those cases, may actually cause damage to the body balane and contribute therefor to chronic illness.
Most times when I ask to look at the tests used to determine the need for thyroid deficiency, the test were just inside the range of normal and were being used for the purpose of "boosting" thyroid function for the person who had been feeling generally unwell and fatigued.
When thyroid medication is used in this way, it is simply stressing a body already in the process of breaking down and pushing it into overdrive. That will create more pathology, as more inflammation occurs in the aftermath of that choice.
Typically we will suggest that those patients speak to their medical doctors and consider weaning off of the medication as we do what we need to to increase thyroid function, and as that transition occurs, morebalance is restored and the bladder is palpably less effected.
However, there are cases where the choice has been made to leave it alone, pehaps in cases where the thyroid was truly deficient falling outside the normal range, or, where the patient has been on the medication for decades and suggesting the removal entailed steps and stages that may not fully benefit that person, especially if it was intertwined with other health issues. Each person is so unique in the process of finding their own balance, often choices need to be made that suit that person but may not be a good fit for another.
However, this is our general philosophy. Hopefully this will answer the question of thyroid medication.
