My daughters have colds and swallow their herbs.  My son cannot swallow a pill yet.  How do you get your kids to take herbs?

I don't have little kids anymore, but could you put the herbs into a small amount of juice or mix them into a little peanutbutter or something like that?

My son is almost 5 and he won't touch the herbs. My daughter is almost 9 and has been taking herbs for over a year. Some are very yucky. I mix the herbs with a very small amount of plain yogurt. I start with 1/4 tsp of yogurt, add the herbs and if it's still too dry add just a touch more yogurt. I have found you can not make the herbs taste good. I hold Emma's nose (this helps a lot) and give it to her with a water chaser. I don't let go of her nose until she has rinsed her moputh well. Then she gets a small amount of honey or vanilla ice cream to seal the deal. She doesn't get much in the way of sugar so this treat helps. You can also use a homeopathic cold/sinus syrup that works very well at shortening the duration of colds. It's sold in most health food stores. It's called UMKA. Don't let the name s scare you. We've used it for years and if you start as soon as symptoms start it will shorten duration and they will have milder symptoms. Let me know if you want more info on it. Good luck!

mix in apple sauce with maybe a bit of agave...both my kids take it and both hate it, but they are used to it now...

What brand of yogurt do you use?  Applesauce worked wonders for taking Ear Formula and Gan Ma Ling.  My son really needs to take goldenseal because he has a sinus infection.  Have any of you been able to get your kids to take it?

I would give it to him separately. Mixing it in as small amount of plain yogurt as you can. It really doesn't take much. 1/4 tsp or less. You can't make goldenseal taste good. My daughter just wants to get it done and over. Holding her nose really does help. This one is always followed by honey or sweeter yogurt. Something she considers a treat. Once they get used to taking the herbs you can reduce the treats. Glad to hear that the apple sauce is working for you.

My son is 5 and he has seen his sister (now 9) take her "yucky" herbs for two years. She has been very good about taking herbs and most (because she doesn't swallow pills yet) are super bad tasting. Well, my son has had ear and sinus infections (fewer since starting probiotics) and is battling a sinus infection right now. This morning I said enough! Today you will taken the herbs. He was not at all happy with this idea. I explained to him why it was so important and that if I held his nose and he chased the herbs with water and crackers that it would only be "yucky" for about 1 min. He did it!!!! This will make a hugh difference to his future. I'm so happy I could cry!!!! Tammy
