Hello everyone,
I appear to be going through some sort of personal crisis. It was probably cause by a mix of factors: I've run into a snag in my treatment and I've been in more pain than before. As many of you know, it's pretty exhausting to try to live your normal life functioning through pain. It's also all the worry about doubts about getting better. I'm about to turn 35 and i've also put a lot of self-imposed pressure on with regards to having children -- whether I can ever get pregnant, whether those children will be healthy and whether I'll ever be better to be able to properly take care of them. On top of all that, my husband and I have just bought our first house and are right in the middle of moving in -- very stressful!
In any case, I've started having recurring panic attacks and then--worse--for the last several days I've been in the middle of one giant panic that won't go away. I've been functioning shakily though it, until today when I was nauseous on top of evertying else. I've taken the day off work. This is the first time that my IC has really started to impact me professionally and that's scary.
Anyway, as I sit here my heart and mind are racing. I'm trying meditation, yoga, cognitive behavioural therapy, positive reinforcement, hugs, you name it, to help me through this, but I can't see my way out right now. I feel like I'm cracking up and so guilty for not appreciating what I have -- an exciting new house, a husband and family that love me, a good job and a caring practitioner that I believe can help me.
I've e-mailed Dr. B and she's changed my protocol a few times now to help deal with this. I'm about to add vit. D and cod liver oil. I hope it helps.
Has anyone else here experienced crushing anxiety? If so, I'd really appreciate any advice or reinforcement you can give. I just can't seem to keep myself in the present and break out of this negative spiral of thoughts. It's scary to feel I'm losing control.
Thanks everyone.
Lauren
Hi Lauren,
Hi Lauren,
You're talking to someone who struggles with horrible anxiety. It has gotten better, but it seems to sit like some evil thing waiting to pounce on me. For me, a number of things have helped shake it's grip on me - one of them is tapping. I know, energy work that Dr. B often time frowns on. I can only tell you that it has helped me tremendously - Here is a site that pretty much expalins it in the manner that I currenlty use it.

Hi Denise,
Hi Denise,
I`ve never had panic like this. I really feel for you.
I`ve called my GP who thinks that this might be thyroid related. This actually explains quite a bit -- Like how I`ve been feeling colder recently and been losing a bit more hair than usual in the shower. Anyone else have thyroid issues? What does Dr. B have you on?
Lauren
Hey Lauren,
Hey Lauren,
I´m so sorry that you´re in pain and I can totally understand that this must be extremely scary. Would love to come over and give you a big hug and tell you that everything will be alright. That having a setback is often part of the process and many have experienced it before. Look what I just found in one of your posts: " I had a really good e-mail chat with Nadia, a former patient of Dr. B, that has gone on to fully heal. She told me about how after 7 months pain-free she suddenly had pain for a couple months. She believes it was her body going into a deeper level of healing. In any case, it passed, and she's now doing great."
I don´t know if this helps a little. I hope so.
Thanks Annika. I remind
Thanks Annika. I remind myself of Nadia's story a lot these days :)
If it is a thyroid problem, I'll actually be relieved -- something physically wrong is much better than just thinking I was going crazy! Yep, another bump in the road...

Hi Lauren,
Hi Lauren,
Buying a home is one of the top stressors - as well as thinking about starting a family. The IC fuels our anxiety which doesn't help any situation. When my anxiety spirals out of control - I try to remember that it will pass and to let it happen and move through it rather than fight it. I also try to rationalize what is going on and that helps calm me down and keep things in perspective.
It sounds like you have been doing well and just normal reactions to important life changes. Don't be so hard on yourself - your okay. Dr. B will help you out of the spiral as well.
Congratulations on your new home - Enjoy it!!!

Hi Lauren
Hi Lauren
(((Hugs)) I don't have much to add. I am 7 months into treatment and had a really bad month myself. I don't want to doubt the treatment, but I was hoping I would have made more progress by now. I have parts of the day that are pain/discomfort-free, but just not where I hoped I would be. I find when anything extra is added to my plate, my anxiety really skyrockets. I hope you can get some answers about your thyroid, although I think it may not change Dr. Brizman's treatment plan, but might be good information.
I agree with others that when you are feeling the most anxious, using a method like the Sedona Method, where you simply welcome the feeling you are having. Sit with it. Feel it. Really feel it. It will be scary and you may feel strong physical feelings as well. Just welcome them. Then you will notice the feeling getting less intense. Ask yourself "Could I (just for this moment) let this feeling go? (In other words, are you capable of letting it go?) Then ask yourself "Would I let this feeling go?" (Are you willing, in that moment, to let the feeling go? The final question is "When?" You might think, I DON'T Know!! But that is ok. Go through the process of welcoming the feeling again, and asking yourself the questions. You might need to repeat several times, and then again throughout the day.

Hi Willow,
Hi Willow,
Before I started with Dr. B, I had alot of tick bacteria testing. One of the things that came up was Bartonella which can cause HORRIFIC anxiety. From what I have heard, Matia treats all bacteria, so if you have this, then it willev eventually let up.
You can get it from cat scratches, ticks and fleas. It's very common.
