UGH. I find things like this SO HARD to stomach. Like, what kind of moron has quadruple by pass and doesnt change his habits?? Furthermore--the doctors' response just make me livid "oh this is common of people that have had by-pass" we just put in stents and its cool! No discussion of serious dietary restriction--no larger analysis. Thank you western medical establishment and media for another dissapointing response.
Just wanted to bring this up with people who actually understand.
Bypass
My mother in law just had a quad bypass last June and already has one artery totally blocked back up and partial blocking of some of the others. She was given no dietary restrictions either, but I know she eats healthy most of the time. I have to wonder if some of the blockage is due to genetics. My husband has some buildup as well, and I can tell you he DOES eat healthy. He eats my diet of a lot of fish AND he uses extra virgin olive oil on his salads every day. I couldn't believe my mother in law wasn't given any dietary restrictions though. They told her to eat whatever she wanted. That's the conventional medical thinking for you.
You can only imagine what
You can only imagine what kind of crap I hear from patients and doctors all day long in the pharmacy. People that just came out of the hospital are already loading up on hamburgers, sitting in my waiting area to get 20 prescriptions filled. Nobody talkes to them about dietary restrictions, and these are people after a heart attack. The moment I open my mouth about sugar or soda, they can"t wait to leave. The explanation is very simple: in Western medicine, especially American there is a belief that there is quick fix for everything and there is a drug for every problem. Why bother "suffering" and depriving yourself??? I myself became a victim of that a few years ago when I was popping a pill for every small thing. You live, you learn :)
