I went to the internist and he is testing me for lupus. he thinks this is a plausiable explanation for the swollen knee joints. Trying to digest this all. I am hoping that it is just IC moving into another place but it has been stubborn and Dr. B is surprised that it isnt somewhat better by now. Lupus is a bad disease. They treat it with steroids. Hoping that is not what has been causiing the edema in the knee joints for the last 7 months. FOrtunately, I do nto have any other symptoms but I am so tired of worrying about health. Just want to be healthy!

Just a rule out because of joint swelling.

Yuck. I thought Lupus was somewhat similar to IC though in that it is a globally weak immune system, in which case the treatment could still be really effective.. and much better than steroids!
I've considered this as a possibility for myself as well... one things I like about Chinese Medicine in general though is that the diagnosis becomes less relevant. We are treating the systems that are down, adrenal, immune, endocrine etc. and rebalancing the body in a way that makes the official diagnosis somewhat irrelevant. Does this seem right? I might just misunderstand everything that is going on!
I've had a host of diagnoses, and so have you, GERD being one example, and as we balance our bodies these chronic illnesses are taken care of along the way. This is a big difference between Western and Chinese Medicine I find. Western medicine is full of official diagnoses and very little solutions for them besides very harmful drugs. Chinese Medicine is more amibiguous but has effective, albeit SLOWER :), remedies.
I have a ton of diagnoses at the moment, Rosacea, GERD, IC, Lyme it's almost laughable yeah? How silly to think that I could have four separate chronic illnesses... these are clearly related. I think if you have Lupus this would fall under the same category... although obviously I am not a doctor.
Don't let the diagnosis get you down IF you get it... you've healed many other chronic illnesses like food allergies and GERD  since you've started this journey, Lupus can be added to the list too if it wants, you'll kick it's butt!

Lots of love and strength

My grammar in that message was a disaster. I am intelligent though I think... maybe. My apologies :)

If you do have it (WHICH I REALLY DOUBT), you probably want to really stay away fromo steroids if you can! I took them for 4 months 4 years ago and they destroyed my gut, my thyroid and my adrenal glands. It's very powerful stuff.

Hi Bonnie!
I also went through all the testing for Lupus and Dr. B assured me if it were positive it would OT be the case later on. As our bodies start to rebalance most of these autoimmune diseases will no longer show up positive if retested later! You are in very good hands, this will pass! Hang in there!

Not sure about my auto correct I guess just wanted to give a shout out for me being an OT! Haha! It should say wouldn't be the case later on!
