Bladder instills

I would like to hear from those who had bladder instillations. I heard that installations may cause a lot of damage. I certainly hope that recovery is possible with history of those.

Please share your experience in treatment. Thank you.

Thanks Tinkerbell,
I don't know if it is bacteria getting deeper into tissue or tissue getting burned and thinning further. There is also a risk of chemical poisoning. That is why they do it for 15 min only. I read in one article that anything longer than 15 min has a risk. I was told by a nurse, too :), that proceeding longer is not proven to be effective. The nurse also told me that the reason why they know that instillations work is because most women never come back for more. No comment...

Did your urologyst ask you to do them? That was the first thing I was told to do.

No- I think I am lucky that I had conservative ddrs. Also because I am nursing they did not want to do much with drugs. I am so thankful. I know that would have been 1st without the nursing. As it was, they recommended Cystoprotek so I am lucky

30 years ago I was dxed with IC; the urologist gave me several DMSO installations and I was symptom free for years; when the symptoms came back infrequently, I would go to him for another DMSO instillation and the symptoms would go away.  It has come back again and I have learned that he has retired so must go to a new urologist.  In the meantime I am experiencing the pressure frequent urination and malaise and dont know how to handle it which makes me feel terribly vulnerable and afraid.
