Does treatment make you completely asymptomatic?

Dear all,

Does anyone know whether the treatment is meant to make you completely asymptomatic or whether you'd still have flares? I was completely asymptomatic for years but nevertheless had 'flares' lasting between hours and days several times per year. Do ex-patients have this profile or are they completely asymptomatic from the disease?

Most who stick with it are asymptomatic when they are done! I am almost there! This has been my best month ever, most days I do not feel my bladder at all and if I do it is very light discomfort and it goes away within a few hours.

Will you be asymptomatic 'forever' more, ie, within certain remit (like no sugar, etc.) or do you expect to have

I think as long as I try to stay away from sugar and not eat anything artificial, eat veggies with most meals, stay away from unnatural foods and products etc. I think with daily probiotics I will stay asymptomatic. I think if you go back to living an unhealthy life style you can have the IC return.

Christine, I am so happy to hear that you've had such a good month and are often feeling asymptomatic!  I think you started treatment a little before I did and it's just such a positive thing to read about someone's success in a (relatively) short amount of time.  I hope it continues for you and you'll be good as new in no time!

Good question. I was wondering about it, too.

Hey there, interesting question! So delighted you're feeling so well Christine, that's marvellous. I've had a bumpier couple of weeks for some reason, with more external soreness and spots of faint urge here and there (my only real remaining symptoms) - made me realise how stable I was over Christmas! So, lovely to hear you're doing so well, and good to hear, too, that Dr B envisages asymptomaticness (a word? maybe ...) at the end of treatment for those who stick with it! have my appt tonight, which I'm looking forward to. Happy Valentine's day, everybody!
