I have a couple questions for those who are more experienced in the diet. I just realized I've been doing the diet all wrong! I didn't realize it was bad to only eat carbs and nothing else with it. I've been doing that for breakfast for like 2 weeks now.. Woopsy! I see Dr B next week for the first time so I'll make sure to ask detailed questions about the diet but for now I was wondering what you all do for bread. Until I deliver my baby end of May she told Lyn to let me know I could eat up to list 3. I found a spelt bread at Sprouts(I'm in AZ) but it has yeast in it so I'm pretty sure that's a no no. And I can't find spelt or kamut flour. We have a Whole Foods here but it's a Little far from me, I don't mind going if I have to just wanted to see if you ladies had any ideas for me :)
Last question.. Why is it bad to eat carbs alone?
It's best to eat carbs with
It's best to eat carbs with protein because carbs will turn to sugar faster if eaten alone. The protein will slow the whole process down.
Hello Lindsey! From what I
Hello Lindsey! From what I understand, the reason behind limiting the carbs is that the bacteria and yeast thrive on sugar, and as these starches and carbs break down it will continue to feed the bacteria and yeast. Yes, you need to find a bread without yeast. I can't eat spelt, so don't really have a good suggestions for that, but I believe EnerG makes a yeast free rice bread and Deland Bakery makes a millet dinner roll. If your local grocery store does not carry something you are looking for it is always worth asking if they would order it for you. You can still have your bread in the morning with butter, or a puffed cereal of choice (rice, kamut, etc.) with plain yogurt and could also add fruit to it. I din't usually get my aloted amount of veggies in the morning, but Dr. B seemed to be more concerned about the animal protein with my carbs for my morning meal. I am sure others will have more suggestions for the spelt and kamut bread. iherb.com is a good website to order your herbs, probiotics, and flout from, they have pretty good prices and free shipping! Wishing you a great trip out to LA!
Hi Lindsey,I order yeast
Hi Lindsey,
I order yeast free spelt (i like white spelt, it's lighter for me ) or if you prefer kamut bread (this is tastier but i don't tolerate as well) by Pacific Bakery. I usually order a case of them from whole foods, and depending on the promotion they are running, they'll give you 10%-20% off for ordering a case. There are 6 loafs in once case so that should last you a few months, and only one trip to whole foods to pick it up. You can probably also order them directly from the Pacific Bakery website. It might be a little more expensive with shipping etc, but if whole foods is far, it might be a good option.
For snacks i usually treat myself to carb and protein combo. If i can, i'll keep raw broccoli or cauliflower around, prewashed to down a few so i feel better about it :)
