Late night eating

Hey guys~!

Random question but I have been wondering this forever....
I work night shifts ( 4 PM-11:30 or 12 AM )  and usually get home and am ready to have dinner by around 12:30/1:00 in the morning!  I usually have dinner then, am done by 1:30, 2, and then go to bed aroun 3:30 or 4:00 am, sleep till 12:00 and repeat.

I have read that between 1-3  am is the time of the "small intestine" ...and am wondering if this is an issue....eating at this time of night instead of letting it rest.  This has been the hardest thing for me to change...I have always been a night owl, also work nights right now and now am wondering if this is interrupting my healing.

I can try to work out a different eating schedule but it is hard for me as i work and without motivation of someone telling me reasons as to why...anyway, just wondering if any of you have any thoughts about this :)

Hi Pixie,
I wondered about late night eating/snacking too. I wish i could remember the book where i came across it, might have been CLEAN by Alejandro Junger. It mentioned how eating 3 times a day actually wasn't natural and puts an unnecessary strain on the body, as it cuts into time body needs to detox. This may not apply for us, or Matia may feel strong that we still eat 3 main meals due to our condition, but basically what the author was saying was that body needs large amount of intervals between meals and constant snacking or late night eating causes the body to spend the extra energy/resources on digestion it should have been spending for detoxing or healing. This maybe a nice general rule for us int he future when we regain our health as late night eating in general is not the best thing. Also recently i read somewhere, similary, when you have a cold, you need to reduce the amount you eat, and increase the amount you drink by 2-3 times to let your body heal itself quicker. Interesting...
