30 pitches in 30 days-6 "The IC Boards"

Last night I did some looking at the IC boards- a first for me. I found out a couple of things. 1) There are mainstream articles written about the co-incidence of IC and joint pain.2) We are really lucky to be here because the people "out there" who have IC are really in the stew. How can it be so bad- the litany of presecriptions and attempts to wrestle this thing into some kind of manageable submission?

Sarah C's recommendation of Tim Parks' book "Can't You Sit Still" is a very interesting meditation on the nature of pain. I highly recommend it. Clearly, there is much about the nature of pain we don't understand.

I am toying with the idea of having a life- in other words, putting up with more pain to be able to do things such as take a 10 minute walk or water my yard or walk a block to buy lunch. These are highly pleasureable things and I have missed them.

I have been "String following" with the joint and muscle pain people's posts- going back in time and seeing if their pain went away- by their posts on other topics, it seems as if it did.

I hope to be in that camp, too in some month's hence. I have spent the last 6 months saying, "how can I have this much pain in the knee joints if my bladder is so much healed."

The answer eludes me but I am trying to get a little less emotional about the whole thing and see if that improves it.

Hi Bonnie (please tell me that I have that right)
Is your knee pain a constant - or when you try to actually use the damned things?  I am not trying to lesson what you're going through - just hoping that there are times when you get relief.  I believe that Dr. B has ok'd some alternative stuff for you?  For me, I've found that Reflexology and Reiki - (I found a practioner that incorporates the two together) has been phenominal.  I had alot of arm pain from lympth node removal, and she was able to get the lympth system flowing much better and the swelling down in both my hands and feet - just a thought.  Although, a good practioner is something that would have to be found through trial and error - it's kind of a field that isn't an absolute.
I am thinking of you and sending you all the best - I truly believe that this will get better.  I've had too many of my own issues that continue to work through themselves not to believe this.
Take Care

http://sunsetfootspa.com/foot-massage-reflexology.htm Not sure if they're any good -you're in LA?  None the less, they explained reflexology in a mannerr that I understand  It might be a good trial and error starting point if you wanted to pursue.  I will ask my reflexologist - who I see on Saturday - to see if she has any suggestions. Everyone, please note that Dr. Brizman doesn't want you to pursue any of this stuff without her OK - this is something that she and I discussed for me personally.
