Hi everybody! I'm new to the IC world and have been trying to digest everything that is happening to me. I started on my supplements two weeks ago and seemed to have stumbled right out of the gate. Boaz has adjusted the doses 4 times already and my bladder is plenty ticked off. It's a little discouraging since I had whittled my discomfort level down to a mere 1-2. Is this normal? Thank you to all of you who post. I've been reading through some posts and you all are so brave to share your stories. It gives me hope that one day I'll be normal again.
Hi Rac! So happy for you
Hi Rac! So happy for you that you've started treatment with Boaz! It sounds like your increased symptoms might be due to die off. Your body is shifting and things are happening inside. (Matia told me to expect increased symptoms when I first started treatment). I totally understand the feeling of discouragement! It does sound pretty common though. And you WILL be normal again! This is a long road, but there is a rainbow at the end.
Hang in there. It will get
Hang in there. It will get better.
Try to be as specific as possible about what your pain feels like when you email. Is it dull, intense, burning, itching, etc.? On a scale from 1 to 10, where is your pain level.
Also, don't be afraid to email everyday or twice a day when things are really rough. I think we are allowed emails twice per day as long as it is regarding our symptoms and doses.
And keep a journal of your symptoms, doses, reactions to doses and foods, etc. This will really help in the long run so you can see a thread of progress, and will help bring to light any bladder flare triggers for you. This also helps you make the most of your monthly calls.
Lisa
Thanks for all the great
Thanks for all the great advice. I guess I just wasn't prepared to have a reaction so quickly. I'm going to have to find some patience to get through all this.
Lisa gave you good advice. I
Lisa gave you good advice. I would only add- ask them what level they are aiming for right now. it has helped me to know that it was ok to say- flare at night if I had mostly good days. Or recently matia said we were aiming for "more stable lower pain" I also was stable at a low level when I started.
I'll ask Boaz at my next appt
I'll ask Boaz at my next appt(my appt was today) about what level of comfort is ok. Right now it's not very good at all. By late afternoon my bladder is very unhappy and the thought of taking one more dose isn't very appealing. How long does this adjustment period generally take?
Hopefully he has adjusted
Hopefully he has adjusted your dose today and you will be feeling more comfortable. If you are on probiotics you do have to adjust to them but it should not take too long. Keep Boaz up to date on your sx.
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Rachel- this whole procsess
Rachel- this whole procsess can be a series of adjustments. it can be very frustrating. SOme poele find relief quickly, others take a while. There will be ups and downs either way. Stary in close contact and keep track of everything. Good luck
It's me again... Boaz added
It's me again... Boaz added Goldenseal to my treatment and it arrived this afternoon. Today was a rare and wonderful discomfort free day(no supplements until I could take the goldenseal). Does anybody know why we open up the probiotic and goldenseal capsule? I forgot to ask yesterday. Wow! Goldenseal tastes awful!!!
the capsules are not gelatin-
the capsules are not gelatin- they ae made with somehting we can't have- I forget what but if it says "vegetarian capsules" we can't take them. some people transfer the herbs to empty gelati capsules. I just drink it down fast.
