Some wise words

Dear all,

I spoke to my old acupuncturist this morning. He is extremely wise and a very talented healer. He is a Buddhist and started practising Chinese medicine from the age of twelve - his father was the local 'doctor'.  He said that he does not remember any cases of chronic illness at all. Instead, people would get ill through infection/bacteria, which were treated with herbs/food.  Chronic illness really does seem to be a product of our 'sick' society - if anyone is worried about their children, I am convinced that IC is not inevitable but can be avoided. He also said to breathe 'mindfully' every day (he meditates), that illness is a warning and that what we have is not insurmountable at all; when he was practising, he used to see cancer and all sorts of diseases - relatively, we can completely heal. Everything we already know from DR. B - just nice to have it confirmed by someone else.

that's lovely, thank you! I'm just getting into meditation at the moment - doing 20 mins every morning - and am finding it very useful as a support for me, mentally and physically. Lovely having that quiet, thoughtful time at the beginning of the day too. someone asked on the other thread for more info about the wonderful meditation teacher I'm seeing - this is she, in case anyone's interested - she's been healthy whil HIV positive without any drugs for 23 years now:
