Dear all,

As you may be aware from my previous posts, I feel rather deseprate a lot of the time. I have wondered why this has been the case and have realised over the past few days that I have a severe case of IC. It started off as mild, years ago, and I managed it for a long time. This time, when it came back during my last pregnancy,  it has come back as severe. I have pain/inflammation 24/7, which never actually goes down much at all. I can't tell if I have flares. The most disturbing are: bits of bladder lining in my urine every time I go to the loo (it's never clear whereas it used to be. It's full of small and larger lining bits) AND I can feel the bladder lining wearing away as I can feel my nerves through the lining. I also have what looks like an ulcer on my bladder wall, a scar and glomerulations (this is without a hydro). I can feel these areas as 'pock marks' on my bladder. It's extremely disturbing because the pain is one sidede (and not uniform). All in all, I have damage to my bladder lining. All this is creating horrible pain so that my symptoms are barely bearable. I am really struggling with my symptoms. My big problem is that whereas I can understand how bladder pain can decrease if the bladder lining has not been damaged (it did with me previously), I just can't see how a damaged bladder lining, with scars and ulcers, can heal. I can physically feel it wearing away. I have had this disease a long time now, and it obviously is progressive. I know that bodies are magical, etc., but a damaged bladder lining is exactly that - damaged. I have dug deep within myself and have listened to my intuition, and still can't find any understanding of how the damage can be repaired. What would people do in my situation? Would you try other medical treatments as well as following Dr. B's protocol? Any advice gratefully received as I am feeling lower and lower each day.

If chunks are missing out of the badder, then I am finding great difficulty in seeing how these can heal/be regenerated. Does the bladder put down a new lining over the missing ulcers? Sorry to sound negative but the physical damage to the bladder is hard to see past.

Vin- I don't know the scientific answer but what occurs to me is that all wounds heal. if you get a blister onn your foot as long as youtake away teh shoe that ccauses it and keep it from getting infected, it heals. Theh issue is the inflammatory process that is allowing the ulcers to continue. An example In someone with food allergies due to leaky gut, if they take out say gluten or dairy- which they are sensitive to and keeps the inflammatory issues going, the gut is able to heal itself. My friend healed her son's AUTISM through gut healing which was very similiar to Dr B. First my friend stopped all vaccinations, identified what foods were causing the reactions, took them o ut, added in probiotics and enzymes and then gradually over a 2 year period, her son improved. Now he eats normal and has VERY mild asberger's. Really he is great! As a toddler he never slept more than 1/2 hour at a time and had every strange symptom under the sun ncluding all of the typical autistic things. Why is this any different than any tissue damage?

My point is- the body heals.

You are really struggling- I am so sorry. The relentless nature of this disease is brutal. Really are there many things worse? I hope you hear from someone who has been there and back. The other thing about Dr B's treatment- it doesn't seem like the severity is the only indication of length of treatment. I thought I was mild and it is taking me longer. Other people who seem worse or had been sick for much longer seemed to heal faster. i son't think this is discouraging it just shows the huge variation in processes for each person.

Thinking of you xoxoxo

I keep on trying to explain to my family that if I could act/think differently, then I would. I rectainly don't wish to be locked in this hell hole. I have lived previously with 24/7 symptoms, but they were not as disturbing as these. I know what it's like to have symtoms all the time, but I could get on with my life then, albeit uncomfortably. I had tingling at the base of my bladder - revolting but liveable with. I could do aerobics, etc.. This is an altogether different scenario, and one that I am finding great difficulty in coping with because it feels like a rat is gnawing away at my bladder. I can feel the holes in it - this is so disturbing both physically and psychologically.

Hi Vin! Yes, this is all very scary, but to give you an example. Along with my bladder symptoms I have awful stomach pain, and thru further blood testing I was found to have h. pylori, which is the bacteria that causes ulcers in the stomach. Dr. B has helped eradicate the bacteria that causes the ulcers. When my GI Dr. told me the only way to get rid of it was through a long course of a few different antibiotics. He was totally against my natural approach, but I trusted Dr B. and she proved that she could take care of it naturally, without those dreaded antibiotics! Yes, the healing of the damage itself, I assume will take much longer. Inflammation is a normal part of any healing process, and unfortunately accompanied by pain. You can look more on healing phases of tissue to get a full description of the 3 phases of healing. As deir said, we are all different, and we will all heal at different rates. I do wish there was a fast forward button!:) Thinking of you! Take care!

First of all, Vin43 I truly feel for you. But ... I promise, the body CAN HEAL itself. Like the others have said, inflammation can keep the body from healing properly. As you kill off so much of the bad stuff, inflammation can temporarily (weeks, months, etc) get worse. But, it will eventually settle down, and once that happens, the body will heal. I had a fractured foot previous to seeng Dr. B, for several years actually, that never healed. I was a runner, but had to stop because of the fracture. Even staying off my foot for months - it NEVER healed. After doing the diet and supplements it amazingly started to heal. Now I cannot tell that it was ever broken. I guess my body was producing inflammation even in my foot, and it never healed. Also, my body was short on nutrients for so long that it never had the tools to heal. Once you get enough nutrients built up in your body, and kill off enough bad stuff, the healing will begin. I was even able to heal a freakin cavity after adding in cod liver oil, which totally amazed me. I didnt know the body could heal a cavity. The body was meant to be self-healing, and it will.

Hey Mel, can you tell me what you did to heal a cavity. What did you do with the cod liver oil, did you drink it and how long did it take. I'm very curious about this in case my daughter ever gets one. Thanks!

Hey Christine, I took a brand of cod liver oil from greenpasture.org everyday. It took about a month for it to heal. You have to take it with high vitamin butter ( or else it doesn't absorb well). Green pasture sells it already mixed with the butter, or you can buy the butter seperate. I learned about it through the Weston Price organization (one of the best out there). He recommends the green pasture brand because this brand is fermented, not processed. Most of the drug store cod liver oil is processed, and therefore retains very few nutrients. Weston Price also says raw milk can heal cavaties, because it has many similar nutrients to cod liver oil. The Cod liver oil was easier for me to obtain, so that is why I took it. It has a lot of other benefits as well, like cancer prevention from the vitamin D. It is expensive, but well worth it to me, and cheaper than a dentist. There is a blog called 'The Healthy Home Economist" - the lady who runs it wrote a post about how her sons cavity healed with the cod liver as well.
