It is 6 days before I go see Dr. Brizman for the first time. This afternoon my pain increased. I have been on the diet for 3 days. Could it be rice or the handfull of Kettle Chips I had (made with safflour and sunflower oil?) had those about 2 hours ago and urgency has increased. :(
Did anyone find this with potato chips or rice cakes? Geeze, I only had one rice cake with my salad with turkey for lunch but did have one handfull of chips. I had brown rice cereal with water, cauliflower puree and eggs for breakfast. Yesterday I was feeling pretty good bladder wise on the diet.
guess I am worried she will take me off all grains and startches but I wonder how often she does that?

Hi Mimij67, Sorry to hear your symptomps elevated!....I am not sure what bothered you, but i would hold off on the Kettle chips for just a bit, also, all carbs should be paired with a protein. Make sure you are having the right type of eggs, non omega or no flaxseed. The last thing I guess could be the turkey, if it's deli-meat style, then it can have nitrites that will bother you. Matia will give you more in depth answers. Hang in there :)

Hi Mimij! I would agree with staying away from the kettle chips. They seem to bother me as well. You may try looking for potato chips cooked in olive oil either trader joes or good health natural food brand or cape cod uses canola oil. Even then I still have to limit my intake of chips they always cause more pain for me. Dr. B, I don't think ever really encourages removing all grains, especially in the beginning. Without the balance of proteins, veggies, and grains on such a limited diet, I think she had told me, we would be more likely to cheat as your body detoxes from the yeast/bacteria. Everyone is different though. Dr. B will definitely be able to guide you with more specifics. Good luck!

I ordered some olive oil potato chips on line and will try them sparingly. Good to hear that usually you are allowed starches. I have already dropped 6 lbs since IC started 5 weeks ago. I am kind of gagging over some of these meals. I am such a sauce girl. I miss my sauces and spices so much. I don't feel like myself. But I need to keep the healing mantra!
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Mimij67, I understand you so well about not being able to down food with no spices and sauce. I had hard time with it as well and lost close to 15 pounds at some points, it freaked me out and i looked so unhealthy, but Matia said when you start to get better, you'll gain back. I started gaining back about 8 pounds back and i feel great now weightwise. Don't worry about the weight loss at first, think of it as shedding unwanted stuff. One thing I would recommend is not to give up on snacking in between. I did it cause i didn't know what to eat, and honestly didn't like my choices for a snack. Not being a big fan of chicken or fish or meat as a snack, i'd stop snacking cause i didn't care to eat the same stuff i had for breakfast. But then i started getting a little creative, like you can make fake french toast with your bread dipped in egg mixture, and hint of salt, then cook both sides in butter. also hard broiled eggs, with cucumber or other vegetables, rice cake. When you move to list 2, it all gets much better, if you can have cheese, yogurt, avocadoes, and finally some berries. then snacking becomes fun again :)

Hi girls, is the Cape cod chips better choice than Kettle due to Canola oil instead of Safflower oil? And what brand of chips do you buy online with olive oil?

Hello selichan, I am not sure about safflower oil, but I know Dr B has okayed canola oil for chips on list 1. For olive oil chips, besides what I posted a few days ago on this same topic another favorite of mine is Terra Red Bliss. They are made with red potatoes, olive oil and salt. So good, but really have to control myself to not go crazy and eat the whole bag all in one sitting!:P I have learned my lesson, never a good idea!
