Hello everyone !! Just wanted to say thank you all to everyone for being so supportive and helpful this past week . I feel far less alone and a little more hopeful and that is thanks to you all :)

I have a question if anyone is familiar, concerning oxalate rich foods. They seem to kill my bladder and make my vulvodynia even worse , but as I'm trying to eat low carb, that is mainly what I am eating (ughz!) broccoli and meat ...and having more vulvodynia pain it seems !
As
I was wondering if any of you know if Dr.Brizman's protocol takes this into account, if healing the leaky gut allows you to eat more oxalates or...what ?!? I'm so confused!!!

I am eagerly awaiting my appointment that is too far away right now :(

To wait for the first appointment. At least it was for me, once I had made the decision! I hope you are going to go see her soon!
I think ALL high vitamin foods are challenging when we have so much inflammation. You might do a search on her blog posts to see if she addresses vitamins and oxalate-rich foods.
The diet is designed to control for inflammation and calm things down. Have you tried butter lettuce and cucumber salad with maybe a sprinkle of purple cabbage? You can make a nice dressing with an egg, sea salt, maybe garlic powder and olive oil in the blender (aoli recipes are in the misc. recipe section and search also for menu list 1/2 and you will find other recipe posts). Do you think cauliflower might be a little more gentle? Are you cooking your veggies? I have read that a more paleo or low carb diet is not sustainable when treating IC. But I am sure Dr. B can comment much better than I about this!!
Can you remind me why you eating low carb, and are not eating any grains? Are you certain you can't tolerate all grains/potatoes? If so, you could cut back a little on the veggies. Dr. B has specific reasons for including some grains with every meal, specifically to give you more energy. Can you find French Meadow, naturally fermented spelt bread? Only has spelt, water, salt. But they use a special fermentation process to remove the phytin from the grain, making it very easy to assimilate and very gut-friendly. I had to petition my local market (basically beg) to get them to bring it in. If you can find a store that carries French meadow, you can request the spelt-only, yeast free bread. What about cooked rice?
I do know that food tolerances improve in treatment. She will be able to give you more information. Hopefully others have some ideas about this.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Gosh, thank you so much for the detailed info!!  May be because of the vitamins, you are right :)
Potatoes killed me every time I tried them last week and made my joints ache ( God I sound 90, not 28 when I say this hahah)
:( Brown rice isn't so bad if I have a little bit of it...I get itchy but my bladder doesn't burn! I feel like I'd rather be a little itchy than such pain so maybe I will try those again.  I was cutting out carbs because I don't want to feed whatever bacteria/yeast are going on there and I'm not taking an antibacterial or antifungal right now so am super paranoid!

We DO have that spelt bread, it is wonderful!!!, but everytime I"ve tried eating it it's odd, I felt so ravenously hungry for more and was scared I was feeding some bacteria and I felt more pain too ( perhaps it was cause I was introducing so many new things at the time though other than the bread...not going off List 1 as I wasn't on this site yet) ...I haven't recovered yet from that spell of things .

Thank you for the info on why spelt bread is so good though! I was researching forever...thank goodness I found this site and will try little bits of it with my meals.

You are right, waiting for your appt feels like forever! However , more and more I am sure that it is worth it as it aligns with my ways of thinking.  How are things going with you?  Looks like you just started as well , can't wait to see some more healing posts from the both of us in the future!
