Ah sinus season is upon us and I am struggling through without antibiotics, shots, prednisone or antihistamines. Dr. B said it would be ebarable and so far it has been but I don't love my loggy head.

Meanwhile, Boaz has been treating my knees with acu three times a week since 1/13.  Lat week was a fantastic week- first one in a long time- things got way better without clear explanationa nd tehn I went out and injured myself- tried to market for my son's party and stayed too long on my feet at WF (1 hr). What a let down. Now I am dealing witht eh fallout, it seems like back to square one on joint inflammation. Any suggestions about hwo to live during this time are much appreciated. Boaz says it will be several months, likely before I see meaningful relief.

Hello there,
i really don't  know what to advice you as I don't have the knee problem myself but  I can imagine when you start to feel well since a long time you want to do a lot of things that you could not do before and  the chance of overdoing is there.
So try  to slow down even in the good moments until you are further in the healing process. Finally seeing some improvement in the knees is such a positive thing  that means the inflammation is not stuck there anymore.. So maybe this time you will see improvement again much sooner. Try to take one step at the time right now and keep up the good spirits your knees showed you they can heal they just need more time.
Sending you healing wishes.

Bonnie, need I say more? You know Anneke is right. You are in great hands with Boaz and very lucky to be in LA! Your knees have already showed you that they can move out the inflammation and respond to acupuncture. Time and gentleness will heal. I have to tell myself the same thing every hour.

Bonnie,

I am so sorry you are having so much trouble with your knees!  I know what it feels like to be stuck inside your own body. There is so much I want to do, but I can't yet because my body won't let me.

As far as how to live during this time, did you mean in a practical way like cooking and shopping?  Or did you mean emotionally and mentally?

I would try to simplify as much as possible to make life more doable. I don't know what that means for you, but for me it means making a plan with my teens and young adult children who are living at home (and working and going to school) to make their own meals, do their own laundry, clean the house weekly, run errands for me when they are out, etc.  My husband makes dinner every night. I make my meals, do our laundry, clean the kitchen, and other things here and there.  When I'm having a good spell, I organize and make phone calls, etc.

For my mental and emotional health, I have a couple really good friends who I talk to regularly, and they give me lots of support and encouragement. I am staying away from people who drain me right now. There will be time for them later when I am stronger.  I talk with God a lot because I know he loves me and will work everything together for my good.  I try to dwell on the things I'm thankful for, like my dear husband and children, and Dr. B, and all of you on the icama!

Hope this helps!  I would love to hear from others how they cope as well.

Love you Bonnie!

What lovely emails. Thank you. These are all good suggestions and I need to focus on being grateful for what I am able to do and also asking my husband and son with help on shopping. That would help a lot. It is hard not to be independent but this is just the way it is today. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your words of love. We will get there!
