Yeast/Itching

Hi Everyone!

I hope that you all are doing well and I thank you so much for sharing your experiences with such courage.

I have been really struggling with what feels like a yeast infection for 6 weeks now. Dr. Brizman told me to first try yoghurt, then goldenseal and now gynatren. I am feeling really discouraged because the yoghurt and goldenseal did not work. I made the mistake of using monistat (I have been on two trips out of town in the past 3 weeks and was not able to access goldenseal from afar so made a pharmacy run in desperation) and the itching is much worse. I am waiting for the gynatren to arrive in the mail (not available in my town) and am terrified that it will not work and I will be dealing with this horrible itchy feeling for weeks on end.

I can tell that my response to this is conditioned by my experience with IC. I feel this sense of terror that I will experience this itching for a long period just like I experienced my initial symptoms of IC when they were at their most severe. At times I am so tired of trying to be strong about my healing. I am trying to stay really positive about this experience around my family and friends but feel this heavy burden of needing to be so on top of everything I am putting in my body.

I know that this treatment is a gift and that I am learning to truly honor my body in a beautiful way. It's just still hard sometimes. And it is hard to find people who understand when what I am experiencing cannot be seen from the outside.

I truly believe that this protocol is the road to true health. I am just feeling discouraged and looking for any encouragement you all may have. I am thinking of all of you and wishing you the best :)

Hi sorry i can only write a very short reply because i'm on my way out, but i had to respond because i have often dealt with the same symptom. I had it alot at the start when i first got IC but i still have it from time to time, but much less, and i think it is part of die off when it happens now.
What really helps for me is a spray, that is antifungal and soothing. It is all natural and especially made for vaginal itching. Initially it burns a bit, but within minutes there is relief. It is called 'topida' made by a german brand called SALCURA. You can find it online and order by post.
Also i have used 'doderlein' which is also a vaginal probiotic, i get it through a friend in germany, maybe see if you can order it online. It is similar to gynatren, but a different strain of good bacteria, 'doderlein' occurs naturally in our vagina and very important in maintaining a healthy balance.
I know how you feel, i have had terrible itching at times, also for weeks on end, but it does pass!

Hi hi,
I think this response may be a little controversial but this is my truth and what worked for me, so I feel I should share it.
I know that Dr. B doesn't believe in the gluten/dairy connection with IC, but my major symptom before starting the diet was TERRIBLE vulvodynia. Before I even started researching Dr. Brizman's approach I cut dairy and gluten out of my diet because I had had some past uncertainties about them and within I want to say one week the itching, burning and irregular discharge I was experiencing as well as many of my bladder symptoms were gone.
I read that vaginal symptoms are the body's last resort... basically it means that every other outlet for detox is being utilized and now the vagina is the only option. Anyway, I'm not a doctor obviously, and Dr. Brizman is the expert, but I know personally that yogurt makes my vaginal itching INIFINITELY worse and even triggers it. So unlike those lucky ladies who can eat plenty of yogurt and kick the infection out, I actually have to avoid it like the plague for the moment.
This is just a possible solution, and the great thing about it is that you only really need to cut it out for two or three weeks to see if it makes a difference.
Good luck! Keep reminding yourself that as AWFUL as this is, it will end. I had these symptoms for two years with occasional pauses of a week or so. Now the only vaginal discomfort I have is extremely mild and happens during and before my period and it doesn't stick around for more than a half hour.
Lots of love,
Hannah

Oh, just to add, I also cut sugar out around this point, but I did cut gluten and dairy our first. Getting rid of the sugar was the icing on the cake for getting rid of my symptoms.

Hey Jules,
The gynatren is an excellent product. I had an absolutely viscious yeast infection back in august. The gynatren worked really well when the yogurt did not. For carbs I just ate brown rice and red potatoes, protein and lots of veggies. I imagine the herbs or proticol Matia has you on will be working on the deeper aspect and now the gynatren can work on themore outer aspect and make you more comfortable.
It did take me the entire dosage of the gynatren- like 2 weeks to get it out but it was a bad infection. Thanks!

ALSO- JUST FYI
That german product- that was mentioned for itching and soothing its awesome to share info like that BUT IT MUST BE APPROVED BY MATIA- if not you could risk applying the wrong product at the wrong time and make yourself worse. So anyone sharing info like that please include that as a disclaimer or else you could really derail someone. Even healthy products must be applied at the right time. Just a reminder for those who do not know this.

Thanks Honeybee
It is good to be reminded that when we don't use western meds, it can take longer to heal, but it doesn't mean we wont...

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Hi Honeybee!

How long did it take for the gynatren to start to make you feel better? The company that sent it to me did not refrigerate it (I called them and they did not realize it needed to be kept cool) so I am waiting for a new batch. I understand that the probiotic capsules need to be kept cool but it seemed strange that the vaginal boric acid capsules need to be kept cool too. Who knows! Anywho, I am hoping to feel better soon. Thanks so much for the support :)

I would say it took the whole course of the gynatren to take care of it. The natren stuff needs to be kept cool but will last up to several days at room temperature. If you left it out on the counter or traveled with its ok for it be outside of coolness for a while however the boric acid caps I think also have probiotics in them. But if they did not keep them cool at all that is good to get the batch that was handled well.
