Does anyone flare with salt?

I feel like there is a big connection between salt and my bladder pain.  What's funny is that I usually crave salt  and used to eat it like an insane person and it was fine with me, but recently  I swear it is painful no matter what kind I use...

...I know that one of the tests of IC is to see if the bladder flares after a potassium installation and that salt has a lot of  potassium, but why then is salt usually okay for everyone?

Have you tried taking it out for a few days to see? From what I have read, Himalayan is the most balanced because it has many different components. It gets rave reviews from the alternative medicine community. It is the only kind I use. Did you ask Dr. B? Very few people seem to have trouble, but some do. If it seems you do, you might only have to take it out for a short time...Whatever we are sensitive to today could change tomorrow. Thank goodness!

When I first started with Dr. B, I thought I had a problem with salt, even sea salt.  I asked her about it and she told me to try Baleine sea salt.  It has low mineral content.  High mineral content sometimes aggravates symptoms.   This salt has worked well for me.  I get the coarse kind and use a salt grinder.  It is really tasty salt!

Thanks Lisa! I always learn something from you. Makes total sense that Pink Salt could be too much of a good thing!

A long time ago before I found Dr B I found an ebook online written by a woman who claimed to have cured her own IC. Her big thing was cutting salt to a minimum whilst following something similar to the IC diet. She wrote a lot about salt irritating bladder lining and how we don't realise how much salt is in so many products out there. From memory she wrote this whole thing about how she started eating a lot of chicken salad with grilled or boiled chicken and greens and eventually cured her IC.
I remember reading it but don't remember what it was called. If you google something like 'How I cured my Interstitial Cystitis" you might find it.

Oh wow, thanks guys!
I will try the Baleine salt...I know that the pink Himalayan salt really just killed me...I thought I had a full blown UTI but it wasn't that at all thank goodness....

Perhaps later on I will be able to tolerate salt but for now I'll take it out...

It's crazy too how much salt is put on food in restaurants as well- I went out to a restaurant tonight and just ordered a burger patty and vegetables and I was SOOO thirsty, I could taste how much they had poured in there- it was ridiculous!!!

I was able to find it at the health food store nearby, but you can order it online.  Just don't get the "fine" crystals because they have something added to keep them from caking up.  Get the coarse kind, it is just salt and it lasts several months.
