Hey ladies!
So I've had recurrent plantar fascitis, knee pain, and carpal tunnel  all in my right side for the past couple of years or so and it has resolved through using structural integration or chiropractic to fix it ....

I have always been worried that I continue to have these issues and have been scared that I don't have enough vitamin D, calcium or SOMETHING to keep this arthritis away.  I know it's because of my gut , and I am healing it, but I am scared....I am only 28 and certainly don't want this to be worse when I'm older, I want it to be better!

Recently I have even worse foot , ankle, and carpal tunnel pain to where I just feel really unbalanced and in pain after walking around, and to make matters more frustrating, I am a waitress and NEED to be able to run around or else I can't work, and therefore wouldn't have enough  money for Mattia/school, etc.

If anyone has used structural integration/chiropractic to fix their issues, did anyone find that it flared them??

I want to use these things like I normally do to fix my foot, but I am very scared that it will set me back in treatment.  If it is just the inflammation coming out from treatment making my body worse, then Mattia does not want to send it back to the bladder...

Bonnie, I know you used SI for your knee in the past, did it flare your bladder you think?  I know that it didn't help too much for your  knee this time around, but I'd like to at least try it  if it won't hurt my bladder or backtrack me, b/c I'm worried for my job !

On a positive note, I now have much longer periods  of pain free not even knowing that my bladder is there bliss!!!

As long as I don't go up to List 2 on the diet that is....still confined to List 1 I find...but still!  Progress....

Hey Pixie!  I get where you're coming from..  I've had back (mild scoliosis) issues for years.. since high school.  I am 27, and totally get the worry about what it will be like when we're older (if it's like this already..).  Before IC, I went to the chiropractor all the time to help my back pain.  I also have hip pain on my right side.  The chiropractor said that is because I favor one side of my back and usually lean a certain way when I sit or stand still, etc.  Throughout treatment so far, I've had LOTS of instances where my hip pain or back pain will flare up.  It is SO painful, especially the back pain (Dr. B says in Chinese Medicine, the adrenal system flushes out toxins upward like a fountain in between th shoulder blades.. right where it hurts for me.. so it makes sense, but it still really hurts badly).  On and off, my husband has offered to rub my back, and I'll be honest... I usually really regret it the day after.  It usually sends my bladder into a big flare, so I have told him to stay away from rubbing my back from now on.  It feels like it is beneficial at the time, but it's really not.  It just goes against what Dr. B is trying to do... get the stuff out.  I would trust Dr. B on this one if I were you.  The toxins need to leave, and I found that at least for me, repressing them and pushing them back in with other methods just really isn't a good idea.  Trust this process.  These extraneous problems will resolve along the way as the body rebalances.

Thanks for your message!! Do you still see the chiropractor occassionally ?? Not sure if I can wean myself entirely off of that one, Dr.B said it may be okay and my Dad is a chiropractor actually lol ...I know some can go, some can't depending on your situation ....

I know she said massages are a no go for sure though but that chiro may be ok she's not sure with me yet  ...I too get massive flares after a massage from the bf, hah , never thought Id see the day when I would refuse a massage hahah

No, I don't see a chiropractor at all anymore.  Dr. B told me it was a no go.

Hmm. This is all so frustrating, but very interesting...This may sound esoteric, but stay with me for a minute:

Before IC, I had HORRIBLE mid-back pain for a year. I went to an alignment specialist. So rather than having soft-tissue or bone manipulation, I figured out that I was walking, standing and sitting while holding my rib cage out in front of my pelvis a little bit. (Look at gymnasts and dancers--this is their normal "posture"). The thing is, a lot of women do this. They do it to make their "posture" look good, their chest look proud, etc...but it is not good alignment and iterrupts lymphatic flow. It shortens the psoas, and you are essentially hinging from your thoracic spine. If you think you might be a rib thruster like I was, email me and I can teach you how to drop your ribs. This alone will improve the flow through your mid back. I think when I had back pain, I had a lot of congestion there from my hidden (pre-symptomatic) IC and that is why my body could not tolerate my rib thrusting (Meaning, it is a combo of poor alignment and IC toxicity, if that makes any sense).
Since learning how to drop my ribs, my mid back pain is mostly gone. Some people have low back pain from rib-thrusting. Visit katysays.com and put (neutral pelvis/neutral spine in the search window). She explains the rib thrust and exactly the mid-back pain I experienced.
I too have heel pain, knee pain, on one side, and low back pain on the opposite side. I have had for 4 years. Exercise exacerbated it. I am trying to avoid chiro for same reasons as all of you. Gentle walking seems fine.
Dr. B has me on Cod LIver Oil for the joint pain. It depends on where you are in treatment.

If you talk to Bonnie you will see that Dr. B did not really want her to do SI work and still does not.

It seems that most people resolve the joint pain in treatment. Dr. B says this as well so check with her if you are worried! I think if you were not in treatment the joint pain would get worse (mine did). But now that we are, we need to trust things will improve and resolve.
Email me if you want alignment help!!

I have had a lot of Rolfing since my knees got bad and while it has helped my alignment, it did not resolve the knee inflammation. If  I had it to do over, I would say, listen to Matia- no one else understands that this is IC related. I was so hooked into my exercise compulsion that I really got myself in trouble whereas in the beginning, I could get things to settle down with rest, now I am really limited in my activities- have rolling stool in kitchen, wheelchair for outings and I sit a lot. No exercise, usually cant even do stretching without complaint fom my knees. Acupuncture with Boaz for 3.5 months has not solved the problem yet or ev obviously contributed to healing. Try to stay out of inflammation if you can as it led me to anxiety and a bunch of other difficult things I won't go into here. I have been this way for so long that it is actually starting to feel like the new normal- which has pluses and minuses.
I can't emphasize enough how much I had listened but rest wasn't a word in my vocabulary now. I am grateful that it hasn't gotten worse but these are hard hard lessons and I hope it is easier for you!

Hi Pixie,
My plantar fasciitis had got better over the past couple of weeks.I would still feel a dull pain, not sharp. I could do everything / work etc. but would always have to wear my insoles, to provide support, because without it my feet would be very flat and the pf would stretch too much. I had stopped all stretching / physiotherapy / foot massage, and gradually things got better. Dr. B advised against massage.
BUT! last weekend i decided to do some gentle stretches and a deep foot massage, to speed things on with healing and my feet have really flared up! So painful!
Like you, my bladder is improving, and that is really really positive. I feel that in time our feet will follow, but slow and gentle is the way from my experience, and from the inside out, so Dr. B's treatment will do it.

Hi C
Yes, you reminded me that I wanted to add that my bladder has made big improvements in the past 2 weeks (still a bit up and down as we have had to change my protocol a few times to manage the joint pain and intestinal discomfort) but per Dr. B's dissertation, the dis-ease moves from the organs out through the joint spaces and then hopefully all the way OUT!!!

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

I see a chiropractor and she told me it was fine!  Personally, I think spinal health is very very important, and that adjustments are important for a wellness routine.  I would talk to her about it though, because she is sometimes worried about the toxic lymph moving around too much, so depending on where you are in treatment it could flare you.  You are so lucky to have a chiropractic papa!

Hi Mimi,
It is great to hear you've felt progress the past two weeks!! Happy for you!!
And thanks for reminder also about dis-ease going from organs out, through joints etc.
And as i just read in the next comment about toxic lymph, that is exactly what Dr. B said to me, to be careful with toxic lymph moving around too much and that i wouldn't be ready for massage. But apart from the foot massage i did myself, i also had a back massage. Thinking 'that would never make my feet flare!!' How wrong i was! I really hope my feet will settle again soon because i feel constant pain now...
But bladder very good!!

Thanks so much for your responses ladies, they were so helpful....it does really make sense that our joints would be weaker and the toxins coming out are getting stuck there...but then does it just disappear?  The inflammation that is...?

It's so so odd because for a couple of days my foot was terrific  and my  bladder was fine, and now my bladder is all of a sudden back to burning again which I haven't felt in weeks, but my foot is fine....what in the world!?!?  Going to mail Dr.B about it...I wonder what it is?!?!  It's like the inflammation is switching spots....and I didn't even go to the chiropractor  ( Dad lol  ) about it yet or anything, I literally did NOTHING and the foot is better....but bladder/pelvis/insides aching....what in the world?!? Anyone experience this? It's so painful...

researchnerd, I do agree about the chiropractor, I feel that an aligned spine does wonders for health as well, and as long as I"m not getting adjusted inappropriately or too much Dr.B said it could be okay for me :)

PIxie- research 'PRP" or PRP with stem cells for what you have. I am having it for my knee. I was told it should help. I hope it does because my only other option is surgery.
