What is safe to put on a pretty severe burn? I am totally sucking at life and dumped scalding water all over my R hand, but my thumb got the brunt of it, in attempt to make ginger tea for nausea. I have run it under cool water and now have yogurt on it. Any other suggestions?

also- mine was REALLY REALLY bad all over my left arm. It felt MUCH better the next day. So you won't be in pain that long. kepp it under cold water for a long time right now and then do the cold egg whites. It is tricky to do but it helped immediately for me. (((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))) I wrapped it in gauze after and I was ok. You will be too. When it rains it pours.

Yes, should hold it under cold running water for a while. Egg whites sounds good. Also, aloe vera gel is great for burns, ideally fresh a. v. I have several as house plants for this purpose. Neat lavender oil is meant to be good but I have never tried it.

Hi Janejones!! Nice to hear from you!!

I don't have any suggestions but I know Deir is right because she had that bad burn. I just wanted to give you more (HUGS). I think Aloe Vera is not good during treatment but very excellent when we are done with treatment, or at least later. I know she would not let me take it internally during treatment and I think she told Deir not to use it!

Thank you ladies! I will try it all and need to email Dr. B tomorrow anyway, so will mention what a klutz I am just to make sure about the aloe vera gel. Looks like most of the blistering has occurred in the web space and on the thumb itself. Note to self: if you are sleep deprived, nauseous, and in pain, let someone else take care of the boiling water. I totally missed the mug I was aiming for!:( I was so out of it, it took me a good few seconds to figure out what was happening. Lesson learned!:/

Hwy- will you stop beating yourself up about an accident? I spilled half of a huge pot of boiling water all over my arm. The funny thing was I still made the lasagna for my family! Darn it all I wasn't going to lose that dinner! hahaha

It took me a few seconds too until I saw the skin had been pushed up by the wave of water YUCK!

The egg white has albumin which helps with pain and healing. You'll be ok.

Thanks Deir! I am over it. Don't have much feeling in the burned area today, just a lot of blistering and looks rather gross!

Hello Deir and ladies! My blisters are getting bigger, largest 1 inch long and wide and more painful each day. Did you have a lot of blistering? There is just so much fluid that makes it difficult to do what I need to at work, and today at work the little blisters around the large one appear to have now become a part of the larger blister and the top layer of skin is loose like the blister popped, but think this was because of the pressure of lifting on patients has pushed the fluid around. Killer tender in my web space! It sounds like your skin was pushed back from the beginning, just fearful the blister is going to pop and worried about infection. Did you just keep using egg whites the whole time until your burn was completely healed? Egg whites was enough to prevent infection. Thanks!

Christina did you ask Dr. B if you can add alcohol-free goldenseal paste or some other anti-bacterial? Did you email her yet?

Hi- I had HUGE blisters all on my forearm and wrist. I kept them wrapped in gauze and starting using the bomasense ointment when they were not at the critical pain stage . I think I onnly used egg whits the first day and a half. I was totally fine as far as infection goes

Thanks for your responses after work I went tto the lake to meet up with family and my little niece and nephew are visiting from Texas and they were begging me to get in and swim. Agasnt my better judgement I decided to get in and my worst fear the blister popped on the lake. Uhh, and didn't get to clean it with mild soap and water for some time afterward. I know it will probably be fine, but a llittle nervous about the lake water. I did email initially and said just use egg whites as much as I needed, but think I may need a little more now that it has popped and in the lake water. What do you think?
