I just found out that here in Germany as well as in England endives are called chicory or chicorée. And then I discovered that the roots of chicory can be used as a coffee substitute. Have you ever heard about it? And is it okay for us to drink it? It´s supposed to be more healthy than real coffee. Here´s what amazon says: Chicory root has a more "roasty" flavor than coffee. It can be brewed on it's own or blended with ground coffee for a pleasant, lower caffeine beverage. Pure Chicory is naturally caffeine FREE. Chicory Root is well known for it's extra health benefits that you wouldn't normally get from your cup of coffee. It is reported to help cleanse the blood and improve the health of your liver. Another perk about chicory is that it's more soluble in water than coffee, which means you use a lot less of it when brewing. Very economical for someone on a tight budget! Any opinions?

I do not know anything about Matia's take on Chicory. I enjoyed drinking it once upon a time. My guess is that it is a cleanser and we already on cleansers so it could amp that process up and maybe be a "good in theory" but not good as it applies to us in our stages. I think it has Dandelion root which is a liver tonic and therefore may possibly be too much too soon. I think it could of course fine later on.
I am one of those people that actually got HELPED by coffee. If I drank more than two small cups it was not good but usually a single cup of coffee was good for me and my pain. I had no urgency or frequency just pain. Coffee is a warming herb and good for the circulation. For me it was medicinal.
I do think the way people use it is often pretty abusive like anything but I maybe Iam in denial that it is as bad as some people say it is! Matia okayed it for me and I clung to it intensely because it was MY ONE treat and vice . ( besides blueberries and almond butter toast with butter when I could have that.)
Not everyone does good with coffee. This could be a great change of course later on the down the road when its approved for you. Alot of folks LOVE it.
If it is not on the list I
If it is not on the list I always ask Dr B. Things that are healthy may not be right for us early in treatment.
If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.
Thank you Mary and Mimi, I
Thank you Mary and Mimi, I might just bring it up at my next appointment. Even if she doesn´t approve it. At least something to look forward to post treatment.
@ Ally: Yeah, I had endives and I think they work for me.
