I am probably grasping at straws yet again but wanted opinions. I don't eat spelt because I was trying gluten freee when I started and since I have yet to stabilize I just couldn't tell if it bothering me. I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to cut out rice. here is my question- I have good days and bad days and have had up to 13 decent days in a row all while eating rice. If I was reacting to it, would I have ever had good days? Not sure if this makes sense. I am sick of TRYING so hard and maybe I just need to forget about it and eat. I did try cutting it out for about 2 weeks at one point but didn't notice a change.

Deir, I too cannot eat spelt or kamut...both cause me to flare after eating if for one day.  I don't react at all to rice, so that's what I eat.  If you've been feeling good and are eating rice then you seem to tolerate if fine.  It seems you are in the same place I am, not yet stablized.  I feel for you b/c I know how frustrating it is.  Can you eat everything else (meats and veggies) from list 1?

Oh Deir, so sorry. I know I totally get it. I have tried cutting out all grains as well, but after several weeks haven't really noticed a huge change. I am just trying to move past it and trying to eat things that really don't significantly increase pain levels. This is beyond frustrating! I do notice that brown rice bothers me more than white rice. Again, no real answer for you!:/ FEEL YOUR FRUSTRATION!!!! I am screaming that for you and pulling out my hair! Hugs!

I do feel better without gluten and starch. Limited rice cakes seem to be okay.
May be you're not noticing huge improvements because you started with mild symptoms. The range for seeing improvment is not too wide.

I am curious how long you have been on the program for and what lists you are all on? Looking for insight myself...

Hi Deir, per our previous discussions did you try taking out nightshades for a few weeks? Dr. B does not think it is usually an issue, but she also did tell me that if I suspected they were bothering me (tomatoes and peppers) I should try taking them out for a bit. I am not sure how regularly you eat them, but I eat them almost daily LOL.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Here's my issue with that- I have had almost the exact same amount of ups and downs al along in the process. I started eating tomatoes a while ago and nothing changed. I also do not have the other symproms of nightshade sensitivity- like all over pain or joint pain.
Of course, all along I have eaten potatoes. I don't eat peppers because I am too scared. My diet is still REALLY limited.
It just seems like what I read about that, i wouldn't have good days at all if i was sensitive, KWIM?

I am not sure though. Maybe.  I am really not thinking it is that or I think Dr B would have said something. She has said that I am one of the patients whose body is just not kicking in basically. She assures me that healing is going on underneath bit she hasn't gotten the overt symptoms under control. Hard for me to keep faith at this point but what else do i have? I have to believe that all this hard work will pay off.

I know Deir. This is impossibly hard. I have so many ups and downs. One thing lately that is helping me is I am trying to remember the PORTFOLIO of western drugs I would be on to control my symptoms if I was not in treatment with Dr. Brizman. You and I have non of that CRAP in our systems at any time, and we never will :)

Just to add my experience if it helps - I find grains too much for my inflamed body.  Instantly makes me tired.  So opt for potatoes or squash instead.

Deir, many of us who started with you are still here, getting better and in a better place.

I know it seems that you're not getting better.. My bladder is still not up to speed with the rest of the body.

My body feels pretty awesome. I live one day at the time. I don't know when my bladder will come along, hopefully sooner rather then later. I hope we'll get to the bottom of it in time. Some ladies took four years to get better, you know.
I do admit, I am really down when I am down, just miserable. I take paracetamol and check out on those days, lock myself in the bedroom, and that is not fun. My family suffers on those days. They hardly relate or understand what I go through.
I went through horror of cystoscopy, instillations, disrespect, i.e., 'all in your head' accusations. Comparing to that, I am in a better place now. I stopped thinking about time. It is relative. Of course, I'd like to be healed now, but then I ask myself what control or choice do we have?
Do you meditate, walk, run, or do yoga?

Thanks Blondy! I try to live one day at a time for sure and when I am feeling the worst emotionally is when I have allowed myself to think future thoughts of catastrophe. The rest of my body does feel strong and healthy (still have a few breakouts but that's it)  However, I always did for the most part.  I just can't seem to get past the idea that my bladder/vagina  beeen better by now but I am working on that!

Thanks for your honesty and kindness
