How to approach list one

How do we officially work eliminating from list one?

I can NEVER tell what helps and what hurts. That has been the discouraging pattern of this issue since it started 16 months ago.

I have just recently been in touch with LA. Mitia no longer accepting new patients.

Also usually I am better during my menstration but this month is awful. And I have lymph pain all down inner legs to my feet.

Trying to figure out how I know the list is working verses what I should be eliminating.

Lloking for sigs and directions.

cried my eyes out today before my client came (I am a practitioner) because the pain and hopelessness was so bad. I have tried alternative therapies for over a year and a half now and my condition is worse than ever. Feels at times it has really taken over my life...I've done acupuncture, herbs, hypno, energy work, manual therapy, Ayurvedic, medicine man, no oxolates, you name it, I've done it, Amrits book, thousands of dollars later with no budget and bam worse than ever before...

I am so grateful to have list one and icama and a supportive group of people here and family.

with gratitude,

carey

I started with DR Brizman just over 7 months ago and am now on list 3. When I started list 3 I just began with very few items like eggs, beef, potato and a one vegetable and stuck to that for a few days and luckily nothing on list one caused me to flair so after a few days I would add one more food and then wait a few more days before adding another. That way you can see if any food is bothering you.

Carey,

My suggestion is to start out with organic green leaf lettuce and organic cucumbers for veggies on list one, and grass fed beef and the healthiest chicken I could find.  For starch, just eat potatoes for now if grains bother you.  Everyone is different, but this is what I did, and I have a pretty complex case of IC, so a lot of foods cause my pain to go up.  But I have found these particular foods to be calming to my bladder.

I think you need to go about figuring out your bladder pain triggers very systematically at this point.  Because your pain is severe, keeping a detailed journal of your daily activities is a really important tool to managing the pain.  Keep track of how often you pee, what your bowel movements look like/feel like, what you ate and how you feel afterward, how active or inactive you were, length and quality of sleep, and anything else you feel might be affecting your pain level.  Also, keep track of your pain levels throughout the day; assign a number to it and record it as it changes.  You will start to see patterns and it will help you make good choices and have some control.

Carey, Lisa Ann and others give great advice. I wanted to add that if you are using any creams ANYTHING. EVEN if it is "natural" on your body you need to stop for a week. This means face creams and body creams. And look on this site to get a recommendation for a good shampoo, or buy the Bomasense products. They are forumlated to be very gentle and not aggrevating for IC and they are inexpensive and then you do NOT have to worry about things you put on your body. For me, acne creams really slowed my progress, and even the most seemingly benign "healthy" facial oils have botherd me.
And like Lisa Ann says, keep a journal. It is really helpful.

Thank you so much! I will look up those items ASAP. I think my tampons put me into flare? Ugh. Never ending.

we are going on vacation and I don't know what suntan lotion/products to use.

One day I pray I am Better!

Please no sunscreen yet. Wear a hat (maybe mineral foundation but you will want to research this when you get back). Wear protective clothing. For next year or more I suggest you get some nice sun-protective clothing for days when you will be out a lot, such as  sunprecautions.com. Near end or treatment you can find a safe sunscreen.

Hey Carey,
I found that tampons and pads made me flare too. I now use natracare pads and don't flare with them. I haven't tried the tampons yet because I am still sensitive and don't want to risk the flare. Hope this helps. I am still navigating my way through list 1 as well! It is definitely a process. Could u get an appointment to see Boaz Brizman? Or is he booked too?
