Flares worse

Hi everyone,

i am gearing up to see the brizmans this fall. Just getting scared because my flares are worse than when they started 17 months ago. It's like the burn has gone to a deeper ice. And I am following list one more? And we are about to go on vacation which has me a bit worried. I don't want to be bed ridden during vacation. Anyone have any tips on how to maintain during vacation since I won't be able to see the doctors for several months?

Body works helps it tremendously but then it doesn't hold. I have to do all that I can until I go see the doctors.

i am going to make the homemade sunscreen for my trip to the ocean. I am going to pray to the waves...

thanks for reading., I hold onto these readings from the forums like gold...

with love,

 Carey

Hi Carey
I am so sorry you are suffering. It is really hard to tell what is causing your pain because you are not in treatment and you have a lot of inflammation.
Also, as enjoyable as massage therapy is (I used to be a massage therapist in a past life! ;) Dr. Brizman does NOT want us to do any bodywork, especially early in treatment. This is because it moves the lymph too quickly for the body to process it well and can cause flares and work against her treatment plan. This healing is a slow trickle, only as much as the body can (mostly) handle, and that is one of the reasons it is effective over time is because it does not cause your immune system to over-react. Body work can do this unfortunately.
You said you are eating mostly list 1. Can you tell us what you are eating, and are you taking any vitamin supplements, birth control or any medicines? ANYthing??
As long as where you are going has a kitchen so you can prepare food, or a restaurant that can make you eggs and hamburgers and sauteed or steamed veggies and you drink spring water you should probably feel better on vacation! Many people say they feel much better.
Let us know about daily diet and any other medications. Even toothpaste.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Carey- I know it is so nervewracking to worry about vacation. Try to just roll with the punches the best you can.  For me, worrying about how I "should" feel while on vacation only made thee reality worse and even when I was feeling ok, I was so worried it would get worse or I just wasn't satisfied with even a low level of discomfort because I wasn't distracted by my daily routine. I chose not to do anything this summer because last year's vacation was tough but remember I have 3 young kids and frankly, vacation is just another stress for us.  For many people, vacation make them feel better so you might be that model! The good thing about oceans and lakes is that you can pee freely! LOL

As far as the flares getting worse, somwetimes the body may react stronger for a time even with only list 1 as it moves through stages of healing. If possible, try to look at it as a healing criis and a good sign that your body is working out the crap it needs to.

Thank you soooooo much! I needed to read that. Mimi asked me to prepare a list of what I am currently doing so I am trying to prepare that to get any help I can between now and the fall.

i have two young ones, this all started 6 weeks after I had my littlest following a banding procedure I had done for post party's hemorrhoid problem. Hoping the structure will heal. It has been a grueling and worsening 17 months. I now have fire going down My inner legs on top of ant bite like burning in my bladder that burns like ice. I have tried every alternative therapy possible yet have never gone to completion because every therapy triggers burn burn burn. Recently it feels as though it has gone deeper from who knows what. Hence the fear of leaving my surroundings to go on vacation. Bringing all that I can with me and will do list one!
praying that the answers are here. Trying to prep myself as well for eating meat. I am vegan.
i am also a practitioner and have to take care of others. I vow to help women myself heal from this as I heal. I feel this condition is trying to take my work away from me as it gets more and ore difficult to treat others from the pain and fatigue. The irritability personally is also so incredibly upsetting in itself.

i plan on writing my full story here as well as to dr. Brizman before I arrive  in California hopefully this fall.
blessings,
Carey

When I first started I had to wait several months for my appointment. So I took prelief which you can get on amazon.com to remove acid from food and diet one and it was tolerable. Later matia made me get off the prelief cause it will imbalance your alkaline acid system eventually but it was a lifesaver at first. She weaned me off of it. It's only magnesium and calcium nothing else. At least until you have an appt. plus of course follow the diet 1 religiously and the pain should diminish..Have a lovely vacation and try not to worry about it you are on the right road to recovery..

This is something that you have to take with a grain of salt. It certainly made my life bearable before treatment but it's not for everyone and it's not a part of Dr. B's treatment and you will most likely have to stop drinking it when you start (although when I started she told me I could have it if I NEEDED it but to limit consumption. I just don't drink it because I don't need it anymore). Marshmallow root tea SAVED my life for the months preceding treatment. It reduced pain levels tremendously and helped so much with all other bladder symtpoms. Obviously you still want to follow the diet and note what makes you flare and what doesn't. M root lines the mucous membranes of your bladder, and intestines. You are supposed to seep it in cold water but I always drank it hot and it still had an effect.
Obviously everyone is different and this may work or it might make you flare. We must be wary of everything, but it certainly helped me feel functional.
I just got back from a week vacation in New Mexico. I was super nervous because I haven't been very stable, but personally, I find the more active I am the better my bladder is. When I have too much time to think about it I notice the tiniest discomfort and freak out. But when I'm off hiking in the woods I don't notice a thing and can go for hours without any trouble.
Enjoy your vacation! Do what you can, and don't worry about what you can't. So much of this process is mental.
