Did anyone use diflucan prior to seizing dr. Brizman? I am going to LA in September. In the meantime, my MD has me on 30 days of diflucan, b12, and glutathione with NAC.
Just wondering about feedback around this.mhopping it will only help things verses hinder. I can't wait to be fully immersed in the program soon!. In the meantime, Lots of zucchini and potatoes. Many thanks to all, I feel honored to be united with this team soon!
With gratitude,

Hi Carey!
Hi Carey!
That's so exciting that you're going to LA soon! Congrats on making the appointment. It's interesting, your doctor's regime sounds a lot like what my boyfriend with Lyme disease is taking. I suppose it is all immune system support/detox focused.
When my IC was bad 10 years ago, I went on diflucan for a month and found it helped a lot. (Clearly there were yeast issues.) I would not choose to do that now because of all the other things the diflucan distrupts in our systems. If youre following the ICAMA diet, you're not giving yeast a lot to grow on and that's a big first step. Plus, if you're going to LA in less than a month, perhaps it might make sense to hold off on starting a new protocol so that you have a sense of your baseline symptoms without supplement interaction/interference.
Clearly this is a very personal choice based on lots of factors. My main thing was that I did the diflucan and did not have any ill effects from it on a symptomatic level. On a systemic level, I'm not sure how good it is.
Good luck!
Claire
Hello Carey, that is very
Hello Carey, that is very exciting news, your appointment is just around the corner! :) I know you are working hard at making a lot of changes to make this protocol work and you won't regret it.
I too was put on diflucan before starting treatment. I had a lot of yeast issues, did an EGD and my Dr. could visibly see the yeast growing. I was off and on diflucan or other antifungals for almost a year before going to LA, non stop vaginal yeast infections.Did your Dr. run specific tests to know it is definitely a yeast issue? It stirred a lot of things up for me, but Dr. M didn't really say this was a terrible thing, but wasn't surprised I was having such ill effects at how fast the yeast was detoxing, often doesn't make you feel too awesome!:/ Is your Dr. running blood work while being on such a long course of diflucan? It is hard on the liver from what I remember. Like Claire said, I am not sure that much diflucan is necessary with being on this protocol. The yeast is being starved and going to be having die-off from this on top of a very harsh anti-fungal med. Dr. B will listen to your whole story and he will start you on the correct herbs to help combat your yeast, bacteria, or whatever your imbalances are. Good luck, can't wait to hear about all your progress during your journey!:)
Carey- real quick- I had a dr
Carey- real quick- I had a dr tell me she thought I had a yeast issue before IC hit. I did not think she was tight but I did alot of antifungal foods like coconut oil and Apple cider vinegar anyway. That pushed my body into a cleanse and I ended up with full lown IC. Anyway- my point is- yeast is not my issue and forcing my body to kill yeast ending up really messing with my bacterial balance. NOt sure if that is your case but just wanted that out there. If you are pointing all this work and emotinal energy into Dr B's treatment, I'd probably just hold off on that drug.
Carey, I would hold of if you
Carey, I would hold of if you are feeling relatively stable. I know it is hard to wait, but I regreted all of the treatment stuff I did, even in the short 6 weeks from diagnosis to getting an appointment at ICAMA. She has me on a strong antifungal right now (SF722, you have probably heard of it) BUT, having said that, she has me on a rediculously conservative dose and is monitoring things closely because she thinks I have very little yeast left. She told me she often holds back on strong anti-fungals unless she absolutely needs them, because she has other more conservative strategies she likes to emply first.
I am not sure how Diflucan works, but I have read it can cause resistant strains of candida albicans (You would have to research this, I am not sure). Whereas with SF722 has an excellent track record for managing yeast, with VERY few side effects, if any for most. SF722 weakens the walls of the yeast so that they collapse, rather than killing the yeast which might allow for self-selection of more resistant strains of candida, if that makes sense?? Of course I would never start SF unless under her care.
Here is the other issue: Antifungals, antibacterial herbs, tonification, moisture-restoring, etc... ALL have there place for different people at different times in treatment. Did you read her dissertation yet? I hope you do. For some patients, she can hit hard with antibacterial herbs almost from the start. In my case, I had a moderate yeast issue, but she would have NEVER started me on a strong anti-fungal when my gut was so out of balance and I had such defficiency status from a Chinese Medicine perspective. So at first she was building me up and getting me out of defficiency mode before I was able to tolerate killing the yeast at the pace I am now. I was not tollerating all of the probiotics at the beginning of treatment. you need probiotics when you are doing house cleaning with yeast killers. So I would strongly suggest you wait and let Boaz tailor the treatment that will allow you to be successful and not move backwards.

Wow, thank you so much...I
Wow, thank you so much...I think I am going to stop my diflucan at this point. It is making me feel horrible. Die off perhaps? I can't wait to be on the icama team! With gratitude, Carey
I stopped the diflucan. What
I stopped the diflucan. What a terrible experience. I've never felt so horrible in my life! Now I am experiencing unbelievable levels of nausea! Stopping now until I see dr. B . I can't wait!
Sorry Carey. Sounds like die
