Forums:
Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted in so long as we didn't have internet. I would read the forum at the library, but for some reason I could never post. But now we have internet again!
When I came to Dr. B I was in so much pain that I couldn't drive long distances or be away from my home and bathroom for long. I had terrible problems with swelling in my bowels, as well as the pain and frequency in my bladder. I had head sores, horrible dry eyes, hot flashes, bleeding hemorrhoids, and chronic canker sores.
Now today I have none of the above. I feel normal most days if I stick to what I know works for me. I have kept a food diary for over 2 years writing down what works and what doesn't. I cannot do dairy or nightshades at this point, even though I am on list 3. I have to switch up my grains per meal, and I feel better with no grain on my last meal. I also eat half a green apple always with a protein, and never at dinner, rather breakfast or lunch.
For quite awhile I could only tolerate cooked veggies, so that is how I ate them. Likewise when I first tried an apple or blueberry, I did better with it cooked. Now I can tolerate raw veggies and a green apple.
I don't do well on anything packaged, so I make my own. From pasta to almond butter, even bread, I just do better if I make it myself. The only product I buy is rice crackers, but I have to limit my starches very carefully so a package will last me a long time.
A few weeks ago I could start having some inflammation in my bowels just cleaning the house, so I would stop and rest to calm it down. I have to keep a certain pace to avoid inflammation in my gut, but now that is really gotten better.
I love to cook. So I make all kinds of recipes even since I was on list one. I take my food with me wherever I go in a really nice lunch bag with a super good thermos, and lovely plates and a tea cup. I am very comforted by these things. I have gotten pretty good at going to functions and slipping my own food on their plates while totally enjoying myself.
I thank God for Dr.B! If I lived close I would clean their offices to do anything I could to try to help them to continue helping others. I try my best to write things down between appointments to help her better dial in my condition. I ask her what to try before I try it...learned that real quick at the beginning of treatment! If in doubt, I just wait until my next appointment to run it by her. And if I try something okayed by her, I only try 2 T as even that small amount can cause me problems for 3 days so I try to be cautious.
I have learned so much from you all and appreciate your kindness and care so much. I hope my update is of help to you. :)

Hi Mrs. A! I have missed your posts and yummy recipes while you have been away! So glad you are back and sounds like doing rather well. Love it! I am too finding absolutely no grains and have to limit nightshades too. Awful reflux and inflammed bowels if I don't adhere to this. Mushy pureed veggies are my way of life still at the moment, but if it means less pain. I am all for it. Anyway, so g,ad you are back! Just wanted to say hi and glad you are doing well. Thanks for the great update! :)
Hi Cprince! So glad you are
Hi Cprince! So glad you are improving too! It sounds like we have some similarities with grains and nightshades. I forgot to mention I am finally sleeping after so long battling insomnia. When I wake up in the morning I am still amazed to have slept with a calm bladder and bowels. It is so worth all the work and patient perseverance. Keep going Cprince!

Mimi, you better believe once I turn that corner I am going to be shouting from the rooftops, so everybody knows! Feeling hopeful, feeling like pure yuck, with more yeast killing protocol! Positive things are coming my way, feeling nothing but optimistic! Pushing this body to the limit, as long as I am functional enough for work.

Hi Deir! I would love to answer any questions. I hope you are doing well!
Hi Mimi! I am not normally a good note taker, but I think taking notes on my diet and reactions to it really helped me a lot.
Hi Mrs A. I am really not
Hi Mrs A. I am really not doing well, sad to say. Waiting to turn a corner- any corner!
My question is about the food you have cut out. I struggle to know if maybe i should be doing somehtingMORE or if this is just taking me a long time. I have had good periods and then bad again. My question is- how did you know to cut out dairy and grains/ Did you feel bad all the time until you cut them out? Does this even make sense? I wonder if somethingl like dairy could be an issue with me if I have had say a 13 day good span while eating it?
Hi Deir!
Hi Deir!
I am so sorry you are not doing well. I will pray for you. I didn't take out grains, rather nightshades and dairy. What helped me to make this decision was all my note taking. Quite a few months back I put all my good days side by side (there were about 6 of them I think). I studied them and studied them trying to find a pattern of food my body liked. At this time I was eating nightshades and cheese and butter. I pulled dairy first because I felt it was causing me to feel bloated. I noticed the bloating did diminish and felt better. But I still had such inflammation in my bowels and bleeding hemorrhoids. So I pulled the nightshades when I read they can aggravate hemorrhoids. I felt an improvement and waited a week. I ate a few homemade, baked french fries and got inflammation pretty fast and started bleeding again, so I knew I was on to something. I also noticed from my notes that I do better with a different carb every meal. And I definitely have to stick to 1/4 carbs on my plate, it is not good if I do more in one meal! I cannot combine starches either in that 1/4 amt, say brown rice and some black beans, for example. My bladder absolutely loves black tea, but I stick to only 2 c a day. I can tolerate a cup of coffee but only with half almond milk. So much I learned about my body from keeping a food diary for two years and asking Dr.B question after question about foods. I try also in my notetaking to give her as much information as I can about where my body is at, so I keep a note pad with those notes for my next apt with her. My notes have helped me so much. I hope this is some help Deir! A big hug to you!
