After having the best week I've had since treatment, I'm now having one of the worst weeks!  Everytime I pee, it burns like heck.  I got some relief yesterday when Dr. B changed my dose, but this morning, I'm feeling super bad again.  Even though I know it will get better, this is so scary going through this once again.

I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what caused this, but I just don't know.  I have a call coming up next week, so maybe Dr. B and I will be able to figure it out then.  In the meantime, I just keep telling myself, "You will get through this.  You will get through this."

Hi Lisa Ann!
I am so sorry! I too am having a setback and Dr. B and I are trying to figure it out. It is so frustrating. I was feeling 95% better, like I was really getting my life back and then all kinds of sx again.
I know for me we suspect I was introducing some slightly aged cheeses, which is really bad for someone like me with yeast issues (at least you don't have to wonder about food!) and the oil I use to keep my acne at bay is probably bothering my bladder so I may have to cut it out which will leave me a bumpy mess. Acne is so horrible. Especially when you are in your 40s and everyone around you is clear, or can use any kind of crap on their skin to stay clear. Sigh.
I just know you will get back on track. Dr. B is used to this type of twist and turn. She said this is normal. You must be going through another round of cleansing or a shift where she has to get the new herbs right. Also, the fact that you are feeling it in your urethra means the pathology is moving out away from your bladder. Your bladder is stronger. More healed. This is good. I know it doesnt help because urethra pain is horrible.
Thinking of you  (((Hugs))) PM me any time.

If we don't excel at health, the only other option is disease.

Hi Lisa Ann- I'm sure a lot of us know exactly what you're talking about - the burning and fear of it continuing/coming back is so intense and I'm sorry you're going through this!  I don't have any great insights but just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and sending you healing energy.  In the meantime, whenever I've felt the way you describe, the various theraputic things that helped me get through it were: hot baths, playing video gamess (it can really take your mind off things!), going outside and screaming, and allowing myself to fall apart and rest as much as possible.  It WILL pass and you're not alone.  We're here for you!

I definitely know what you're going through. I was having a few amazing weeks in a row and then WHAM I got hit with the most annoying urgency and pain. I spent most of last Tuesday crying and trying to pinpoint the cause - I think I figured out that it was either nail polish or trying arugula or a combo of the two. Added to that is the anxiety I'm having about traveling for work for the first time since I started treatment  next week. I'm in a pretty messy flare right now, but I know it WILL get better. And you WILL feel better. Maybe your body is detoxing in a different way now - it always helps me to know that so much discomfort can be attributed to deeper healing. I also got two really wonderful emails from my mom and a good friend this week that I'm going to post on the boards - I hope any if this helps - maybe just even knowing that I totally understand how you're feeling? You should also keep emailing Dr. B. I'm really bad about trying to tough it through painful times when I could probably be changing my protocol more often to help me - I'm sure you're on top of that though!

Thanks so much, guys!  It really does help knowing that you all know how I feel right now.  Dr. B changed my dose today, and it is helping.  I asked her to give me a couple options in case the first one didn't work because tomorrow is Sunday, and she did.  But so far this is working.  At least the pain has gone down enough that I can lay in bed and relax. I've been watching old tv shows on Netflix, using a hot water bottle on my abdomen, and for the urethral burning, I use a cold pack down there for brief periods.  But right now, I don't need the hot and cold stuff because I'm getting some relief from this dose.  I just keep taking little naps, and I'm covered in blankets because my whole body feels cold.  I'm doing okay though.  Did a lot of crying this morning when the pain was really bad.  Crying helps relieve the stress.

Sending hugs to you all!

Lisa, so sorry you are having a rough time after such a great week! :( I am glad to hear though after a protocol change the pain has improved! This is all so difficult, all the ups and downs, but soon you will be having many up days! Keeping you in my prayers! Hoping for some up days myself! ;)

im sorry sorry that you are feeling symptoms again. I just had an amazing 10 days with very low symptoms & Friday night my bladder started burning horrible. Out of nowhere & can figure out why!!!! When I can string some good days together I always have the thought...is this it!!! Is the pain finally leaving & not coming back. It is very sad but I won't let those little voices make me believe this isn't working. I'm laying in bed with a level 9/10 pain. I will not give up but these set backs are very hard on my mind & body! I often read all of the comments everyone writes & they seem to understand why things are happening to them or what it means. I have no idea why I am still in pain after 15 months but I keep pushing  through & hoping. I hope you feel better soon:)))

Lisa Ann,
I am so sorry for your pain and will continue to pray for you. Keep resting, and I hope this flare will be over soon. Taking a hot bath helps me, and I know this sounds crazy but I try to focus on my body parts that do feel good. I move my hands and say how much they feel good, I can breathe through my lungs working good, likewise my feet and toes can move, and so on going through my body to take the focus off my bladder pain in my mind. I also find that chicken helps me when I am in a flare. I do well on that protein.

My daughter has been struggling with hives for 7 weeks (she has IC too), and she thought she was tolerating Dove deodorant all this time. But when she stopped using it the hives finally cleared up. Just some other ideas for you. I know you don't have hives, but it had been driving her crazy all these weeks and she finally pulled that and got relief.

I pray you are better soon!

Love & Hugs sent your way.

Christina and Mrs. A, thank you so much for your kind words and advice.  It is much appreciated!

Amy, I'm so sorry you are in so much pain right now.  These ups and downs are so hard on us physically and emotionally.  I do believe we are getting better all the time, and the ups and downs are normal with this treatment.  Not that everyone has these kinds of swings, but some people do, and they get better.  Hang in there, girl!  Feeling better is right around the corner.  I'm having a better day today, so I'm hoping it will continue until I feel as good as I did before this flare started.  Just yesterday morning, I was still in agonizing pain.  It's amazing how quickly things can change.  I'm sending you lots of hugs and prayers right now!
