Hi Everybody,
I have been dealing with some major bladder nonsense for about 2 months now. Uti and then endless bladder/urethral pain. The pain changes, but does not leave. I went to my western doctor (who I really like) and we did a candida blood test a few weeks ago. They just sent me the results in the mail and my readings from an ongoing chronic candida infection were quite elevated. I'm sort of chagrined about this as I've been in treatment with Matia for 2.5 years and have not eaten any sugars since 2009! How can my yeast still be so bad?
After yet another protocol change from Matia yesterday, I was having less urethral pain but then a very itchy/creepy-crawly vaginal feeling that then escalated to burning later in the day. It also looks like my discharge is considerably milkier than ususal -- sorry to be graphic. I've never had a classic yeast infection but I'm wondering if this is part of what's going on or if it's just more cleansing. Is this what yeast feels like? I'm trying to properly communicate to Matia as to what's going on but everything changes so fast and is so inconsistent.
Hi Claire,
Hi Claire,
As you know, I've made some choices on my path with Dr. M that hasn't always been what she's suggested. Most of the time she's been spot on and I've had to return. My choice to cave and take antibioticsl after six months, for a uti, is one that I'll never know for sure who was "right", or "wrong". I only mention this, to show that I am not a blind follower by nature. However, I've had this saying from somewhere in some old US battle cry (don't recall from where it comes) "ours is not to question why but to do or die." I've often wondered if the crap that comes our of my body is new stuff or old stuff finally making its way out - can't tell you how disappointed I was when Matia felt that the UTI was new and not old. However, whatever it is, is what it is. I truly believe that Matia will help you to heal. I also truly believe that was is important, is that you found your way here, to a place, that for me, was the place that I really belonged....I just have to find the strength to continue on with it.
I'm sorry if I'm sounding like a pompous ass. I think I write this as much for myself as trying to help you find your own answers.
Hugs and my best wishes - Oh, and thanks for the Facebook invite - when I'm back from vacation I may take you up on it. Of course that would mean that I'd have to give up on my solo pity party :)
Hi Claire,
Hi Claire,
I agree with Denise that none of us should judge each other. Even though we all struggle with IC, each of us is unique in its presentation within our bodies. We've spoken a little and I've mentioned that early in treatment I too resorted to abx for back to back UTI's which i believed were caused by gyn procedures, which is different from what you are experiencing. Looking forward I would definitely use herbs the next time. I'm sorry you are still struggling to get rid of yout UTI. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it go away. I don't think there is an easy answer in your situation. Just keep in close contact with Matia and let her know of any changes you are experiencing so she can help you. I can say that this program does require some blind faith and I am a believer:). Hope you start feeling better soon.
Thanks you guys!
Thanks you guys!
I'm in no way about to jump ship, I just figure the more clear info I can give Matia the better informed she can be about what to do. Having no real experience with vaginal yeast infections, I just don't know if that's what's going on or if it's something else.
My poor bladder is such a mess. I was going back through my notes and it has not improved in a whole month of what we've been doing. My goal is to just be as thorough as I can in communicating what is happening but as you know our symptoms are so wierd and transition so quickly that it is hard to get a handle on what exactly is happening.
I don't plan on treating with anything other than Matia's protocol- but I am concerned that after 2.5 years in treatment my IC is worse than it has ever been in the 19 years that I've been dealing with this. According to the most recent test, the UTI is gone, but the minute I come off the heavy-duty antibacterial herbs, everything escalates (not that it is good the rest of the time either!) I have healed from this before, so I know I can heal again, it's just hard to keep the faith right now.
Claire- I am so sorry thatyou
Claire- I am so sorry thatyou are going through this. It must be absolutely terrifying. I also have to just keep faith that my decision to go this route is the right one. Soemtimes I think I am being stubborn but deep down I don't think so. I do still beleive I would have chosen this route even If I knew it would be this difficult .
I don't have anything to cheer you up other than I think this will get under control soon. Your body is amazing and always has the capacity for wellness. love to you
Claire,
Claire,
I am thinking there must be something to the "patients over the two years mark" who are either back to "normal'- if that is even a thing;) or struggling with some new or re-emerged issue. Although I have not had to deal with the UTI in treatment yet, I completely understand your frustration in having come so far and then having to deal with a new and debilitating health challenge.
August marked two years for me and I was really doing beautifully. Bladder is 90% better and heart is 65-70% there. Then in mid-December, I began to have pain in my arms and jelly-like feelings in my legs, nausea and that all over sick feeling again. Now my eyes are having problems with light and feel strained in the muslces. When these symptoms are affecting your life in such a dramatic way, it is difficult to push through them and believe they are die off- at least- it is for me. The neurological component to these die off symptoms are challenging because -- well, the word "neurological" is kinda scary. However, after I get past the fear, the anger and the frustration, I still feel this is the best treatment, for me, for now and that is what I can handle right now.... what is in front of me.... one step at a time. I think, much like Denise, I wrote this for me as much as I have for you, but here is the good news.... it seems like a fairly "typical" pattern to get past the two year mark, have some sort of heavy die off issue, and then clear from it and be in a much better place. At least, that is what I am hoping... for all of us;)
As for the yeast infections question.... yep, I used to get them all the time and it sounds like that may be what is creeping up on you;(
Take care of yourself,
Katie
Ok where's Mimi when you need
Ok where's Mimi when you need her:)))))
Claire, just a thought and maybe you've already discussed this with Dr. Matia...the antibacterial herbs are much easier on the body while achieving healing results like Western abx, but since you've been on them so long and at such large doses, it may be possible that they have disrupted the flora causing yeast to overgrow. If the UTI has cleared maybe getting back on a protocol would help the excess yeast. I'm no doctor and this was just a thought based on what you've mentioned.
Hi Ya Katie,
Hi Ya Katie,
Every time I get sort of jealous that you've gotten your life and health back - there you are again sharing my sucky adventure. While it is really nice to hear from you - I so wish the best for you and yes, OF COURSE, myself too....oh, and everyone else too - hoping I've covered the KARMA thing :)
