Organ Clock Meaning

Hi Ladies,

Most of us are familiar with the TCM Organ Clock but can anyone explain it further?

Example - every night from 1 - 3 am my bladder flares. This is the liver "time." And every morning from 5 am - 7 am my feet burn and ache on the colon reflexology point - which on the clock is the large intestine "time."  So that all makes sense.

But what is it that my liver and large intestine are actually doing to cause the physical reactions? Are they cleansing, are they blocked?  Does anyone know?

Thanks Claire

I think that what it is - is there are natural cycles of the body's systems largely governed by the sun. Kind of incredible if you think about it!  And those cyles involve a wave of energy that crests through the body moving from meridian to meridian at those organ clock times. When the energy of that wave is at its peak  so I imagine it's likely just dealing with an increase in intensity in whatever is going on.It is kind of a boost in my feeling. I don't think its blocked - it's likely healing and cleansing and working THROUGH those blocks if they are there In general it isare a useful diagnosis tool to show what is going on in those patterns. So while it is uncomfortable it is just a natural part of the body doing its thing and giving data to let us know how we are doing and what needs attention and care. In the old days they would treat whatever organ system was out of balance at those times! TCM theory is sooo interesting to me! I wonder if there is a better book on it. I know about the web that has no weaver. I got all this info from a small booklet I had received in massage school. It has been invaluable to me for reference.
