I may be wrong but are oats anywhere in the diet? What about oatmeal, steel cut oats, fast cooking vs slow cooking? I did read (off this site) that steel cut oats were the best and had 1/2 the glycemic index of the instant or fast cooking (cook in 1 min). I was thinking they would be good because they may be gluten free but they have alot of fiber and may be too irritating for the colon and to "cleansing". This would be a great topic for Matia on the call Friday. I would love to hear if any of you have eaten oatmeal and if it has been tolerated. I made a recipe with meat and steelcut oats that makes a thick mush like dish that I fry and eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner (an old family recipe) and I have had no problem with pain from it. I mix the oats with cooked and ground pork and beef roast simmered with onion, alspice, salt, pepper, and cloves.

I asked about oats in my last appt and Matia said it was too soon - I'm on List 4 and am doing great but still have some urgency. I would love to eat it and am looking forward to it. I think generally its for much later in treatment.

My notes confirm this: "Other more abarsive, cleansing kinds of grains like oats and buckwheat cause a lot of pain, and thus are withheld until the end, toward the end of List 5."
.... no matter the general health/healing potential of oats or any of its form like steel cut oats which yes I know are so healthy plus were my favorite breakfast meal!!
